safe to say that loss of blood in a boxing match is normal right?

So then why would one be afraid of giving their own right before it?

    Paradoxical no?

Because giving blood lowers red blood cell count.

Lower red blood cell count equals less stamina.

Less stamina equals less focus, concentration, speed and power.

Athletes are creatures of habit and highly superstitious. They don't want their routine messed with in any way, shape, or form. Take an MLB pitcher, for instance... like 99% of them think it's bad luck to step on the baseline when the inning's over and they're returning to the dug out. They always slow their roll, and even often jump over the baseline.

No it doesn't, if you've lost enough blood for it to effect your oxygen they'd have stopped the fight long before that.

Nevermind, I thought he referring to blood loss in a fight. Yes, that's true what he said about training but, it doesn't matter because the opponent is going through the same thing.

Please go ask to draw blood from a world class miler the day before his race.

    See if he obliges.

Didn't Mayweather and Pacquiao? I thought they did. Could be wrong though.

I don't even think a day before is an excuse. You can see blood being taken as a loss of training for a couple to maybe about four hours max, it's still nowhere near a complete loss of a day. And if you still badly need training a day before your big event then you probably haven't trained to have won anyway.

Yeah I thought boxing_master made a thread saying they did but everything from him has to be verified. I believe I read the article he was talking about and I never saw anything where it specifically said that blood was drawn, only that they were tested, it was more than likely urine.

According to some it's all about hit and don't get hit... so there should be no bloodloss whatsoever, otherwise you're doing it wrong :bart
