Sakio is not elite...but he gives no one an easy fight, he is just so tough & rugged.
Hence why certain boxers wont go near him if possible.

 

Bute will beat him easier next time out than he did before .

 

Good article in the paper today saying his purse is only $15k.

Long way from the $750k winning the contender.

Bika fights for pittance in Las Vegas

Australia's Sakio Bika is fighting for a pittance in a "do-or-die" super middleweight world title eliminator on a giant Las Vegas boxing card on Sunday.

Bika, who unsuccessfully challenged legendary Welshman Joe Calzaghe and German Markus Beyer for super middleweight world titles in 2006, tackles unbeaten Frenchman Jean Paul Mendy in a IBF super middleweight title eliminator at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

The winner gets a crack at IBF world champion Lucian Bute, who beat Bika in a previous world title eliminator in Canada three years ago.

Bika's career has stalled since he won the Contender Reality TV show in 2007.

He has had just three fights in three-and-a-half years, taking just five rounds to register three KO's.

"People have been saying that Sakio has priced himself out of fights, but this one is for just $15,000," Bika's trainer David Birchell said.

"The reason he hasn't got fights is people have avoided him.

"It's important people know it's not because of greed, it's because people have been ducking him."

With Birchell having commitments to other fighters in Australia, former world champion Buddy McGirt has been training Bika in the United States.

Birchell trains Ryan Waters, who will challenge Anthony Mundine in a WBA junior middleweight world title eliminator in Wollongong on September 15.

"A lot of people underestimate Ryan, at this rate Ryan is a strong guy and a very strong puncher," Birchell said.

Bika 31 (28-3-2, 19KO's) will be facing an unbeaten Southpaw in Mendy (28-0-1, 16KO's), who is ranked eleventh for the title, while Bika is rated fourth.

Their fight is on the undercard of the Juan Diaz-Juan Manuel Marquez double lightweight world title fight.

One interested observer will be Australia's WBO interim lightweight world champion Michael Katsidis, who will be the mandatory WBO challenger to the winner.

Meanwhile, world ranked Canadian cruiserweight Troy Ross has called out Australia's Danny Green and described him as a "fraud" following Green's controversial IBO cruiserweight title win over Paul Briggs in Perth last Wednesday.

Ross (23-2) said he saw the 29-second fight on YouTube and couldn't believe his eyes.

Well Ross is a top 10 Cruiserweight, something Green has never been near before.

I think Mendy will be too good for sakio to few fights for a fight like this i dont think this will be sakios last hurrah i think he has already gone

 

i hope sakio wins, hes very tough and rugged but is that a fall from grace 3 years ago sitting nice and pretty with a big 750k windfall now fighting for 15k terrible management!

I like Bika. I really enjoyed his fights with Codrington and Manfredo. But I'm hoping for a Mendy win here. I have absolutely no interest in a Bute-Bika rematch. I want to see Bute fight a different kind of opponent. Something Mendy would bring to the table since he's a skilled southpaw. If Mendy win this fight it will make him a legitimate contender at 168lbs.
