Tried youtube, but can't find a video of this. Does anyone know where I could see it? Joe said all three knockdowns in his career were "flash knockdowns" so it mightn't be anything special, but nonetheless I'd like to see it.
http://www.tko24.com/view/665/joe-calzaghe-vs.-kabary-salem-part-2/ There you go - it's in the 4th round
As much as I admire Joe's fighting spirit, it wasn't a flash knockdown... Joe cornered him and he slipped in with a straight and sharp right counter that dropped Calz to the seat of his trunks. Very much like against Hops & Mitchell, Calz found in him the fighting spirit and the desire to overcome and use all his flexibility, adaptability, box smarts, stamina, punching commitment and handspeed to outwork Salem in a most dirty and ugly fight, all due to Salem's most unprofessional conduct from the weigh-in to the 12th round itself. Joe made it sound like an accident ( a slip) in the post-fight interview very much like in the Mitchell fight but he was not supposed to do anything other than that, hey, it comes with the business ( do not bring out the knockdowns suffered).
that fight is atrocious. I'd watch the knock down and then shut it off. Even as a huge Calzaghe fan, it pains me to remember watching that fight. awful stuff.
Cheers yorkshire boy. Couldn't see it clearly, but I think it was a headbutt before that left-hook that put him down.
Was a perfect punch in all honesty, smack on the side of the chin. Truly awful fight though, Salem was unbelievably dirty... Calzaghe didn't fight very well, for eg; after getting headbutted numerous times lost his composure and went all in leaving himself exposed etc on numerous occasions.
I was just stirring the post.I knew a few brits would go for it.Bute school Andrade in 12.And he will do it again:yep :good
