If this gambit backfires, and the extra weight slows Siri down or hampers his conditioning (and I personally think it will) then in the minds of detractors Loma will have just beaten up an overweight and faded vet. That's true, but there's no point in putting much stock in people who are hell-bent on bashing a fighter. I look at it as a sign of respect- nobody wastes their time bashing fighters unless they themselves view the fighter as being good enough to be worthy of their time and energy.

Being that Salido didn't make weight, he isn't fighting at his usual Featherweight. And Salido is unranked at Super Featherweight.

When a fighter fails to make weight, the overwhelmingly vast majority of the time that indicates a lack of preparation or a dire physical stressing of your body to attempt and fail to make the weight.

 

My bad, I forgot this is Bizarro world where beating bigger men gets you less credit. :rofl

Salido came in heavier and didn't bother to try and make weight a second time for an advantage. You know, along with the experience advantage and fighting in Texas.....which will make it all the more satisfying when Lomachenko whips his ass in his second pro bout. :happy
