Elite fighters beat unremarkable, past-it journeyman convincingly. Lomachenko is a talented fighter, but he'll never be pfp. And the excuse that he fought for a belt in his second pro fight is nonsense. His own arrogance made him think he could walk through Salido, because, as I said, Salido is an old, 2nd tier fighter. Lomachenko is not elite. Wait and see.

Salido was also a super featherweight against a featherweight. Try to comprehend that.

What about him is elite? His ability to hold excessively? His ability to peck and poke like an amateur? His ability to look completely confused at what to do on the inside? Salido was overweight, so what? Vasyl obviously thought his "skill" level was going to get him through the fight. It didn't. He is as soft as baby **** dude, sorry to break it to you. Just because he came on late when the shop worn bloated 33 year old tired from wearing Loma's ass out all night doesn't make him a world beater or demonstrate anything other than being able to attack when he knew nothing was coming back. Notice he didn't do a lick until AFTER Salido tired.

There's a difference between clinching because someone is diving in head first throwing himself on top of you versus getting rocked badly and desperately clasping onto the guy's gloves so he doesn't relieve you of your consciousness.

Lookit, Loma said during the post fight interview that he won't fight dirty, that he's a clean fighter. That's noble and all, but be prepared for lots of loses, because at the pro level, that's part of the game. You learn what the ref calls or doesn't call fouls and proceed from there. Experienced pros know this and will use it to their full advantage. Props to Salido for 'finding' a way to win. I can't take anything away from him. If Loma knew Salido was fighting dirty, he could have 1) fought dirty back (evidently not an option for him based on his own morals) or 2) he could have told the ref he was being low blowed by gesturing with his gloves while boxing, or between rounds. He chose to do neither so he must live with it.

Scar, lets be real, you werent crying the same tune when Mayweather completely missed weight against a light weight, and he is supposed to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

    Stop the hypocrisy

Salido illegally led with his head all night proboxinganalysis.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/robbery-in-texas and got away with it. Not much Loma could do. I agree he could have adjusted better and thrown some more uppercuts to stop this. Mikey Garcia did this when he fought Salido. Mikey also suffered a broken nose because of a Salido head butt.

Trust me, I saw that, too. He also had Loma's hands in a death grip in the 11th and 12th. The guy was doing his best Fritzie Zivic impression last night in a gambit to throw every pro trick at the rookie now.

The two biggest punches Lomachenko needed to throw were the uppercut, as you said, and those sweeping hooks to the liver earlier. He'll learn. He'd already had it figured out last night, it just took him too long to discover it. :deal:good

Let's give the kid some props. He only had one fight before Salido at this level. Did he win last night.....? absolutely not, however he did win rounds, showed he could compete....and I saw a lot of things that impressed me. I just think his team had a warped view of where Loma was in terms of his experience. AM is different than pros......even if he has a "pro style".

There are a lot of wrinkles a pro fighter at Salidos level have that a AM standout would never be prepared for.....no matter how many Amateur fights he had under his belt. With that said.......the kid is the goods. Just chalk this loss up as a learning experience that will ultimately make him better. Losing his 2nd pro fight against a world champion is better than losing his 20th fight in a world title fight.

Don't sleep on Loma.....he will be the future of this sport so long as his handlers move him at a less accelerated pace. They can be aggressive considering his pedigree but I said this fight with Salido was crazy when they made this fight. I thought Salido would stop the kid or completly dominate....but surprisingly, Loma knocked out a few corners against a much more experienced and crafty world champ.

Oh.....and for those mentioning how dirty this fight was.....good observation. The Sweet science is a dirty sport. It always has and always will be. For Loma to get that education this early in my opinion is a good thing. He was bound to experience at some point....every pro boxer has been through it.

It's a right to passage and a learning experience for those who have the mental toughness to learn from it.... become better, more experienced boxers. Better now than 4 yrs from now when he's 20 and 0 and his stock at an all time high. That kind of fall is a lot harder to come back from than a loss like we all saw last night.
