Between the PED's and the BS he pulled in the Lomachenko fight, you'll forgive me for not shedding too many tears on his behalf.
Not "easily" - close but clear. At worst for Siri you could have it a draw, but the card from Patricia Morse Jarman with Martinez ahead is a bit far-fetched (and continues a long trend of Rocky getting questionably favorable treatment from judges: Levi Martinez & Michael Pernick against Magdaleno, Tony Paolillo against MiniBurgos, Clark Sammartino & Duane Ford against Beltran Jr., and Levi Martinez again in Salido I having Martinez up by five points when most observers thought he just squeaked by...)
I had a few too many in me.... But that seemed like it had the potential to be a FOTY contender. What do you guys think? :think
Problem with the idea of a third fight is, Salido already performed really well, I don't see how he can win more than 7-8 rounds. I mean it's not like Martinez is a bum. He needs to score knock downs or a knock out to win the fight as long as there are no neutral judges. This was kind of like Lewis vs Holyfield I in terms or judging.
Fight was very competitive, but competitive doesn't mean its close. I thought Salido won clearly in a competitive fight. Salido was busier, scored the cleaner more precise punches, and he scored with the heavier more damaging punches. No way should that fight been scored even. 5 rounds for Martinez is giving him the benefit of every doubt. Who cares what the judges score any longer, Salido the clear winner in my mind.
