They both are pretty good fighters. Regardless of their losses. Juan had no business trying to slug it out and should have just boxed his ass. No head movement at all.

The latter, me thinks. As brave as he was, Juanma was pretty poor (boxing-wise). Salido is just a tough, relentless guy. That's all. He was always gonna' give Juanma trouble.

Yea but the problem is, he actually tried to box but he is just not slick enough and don't have good defense.

Salido has had no protection in his career, he's traveled a long hard road to get the respect and recognition and also the money that he's starting to recive now. He deserves all the respect in the world.

In regards to Lopez, it's a case of Salido having the style to negate his good qualities and excenturate his bad ones.

    IMO.

    Wha? Another similar topic?

Salido was always a good fighter (see Guerrero fight) and Lopez always had defensive holes, he just did the job before opponents could do a job on him, but Mtagwa kinda exposed him and it was downhill after that. It's also a style thing, Salido is more than willing to push forward and risk taking shots to deliver wide bombs because he knew Lopez is ineffective fighting backwards and has huge holes against those angles. There were some worrying signs in his tune-up, but Salido prepared for the rematch properly and pulled the same hat trick as last year.

8 of Salido's losses were prior to 2002. From then he has only lost three times - once to the great Juan Manuel Marquez, once to Yuriorkis Gamboa, and once to Cristobal Cruz, a loss he later avenged. Ithink overall he is a good fighter and can slug it out with the best of them. However, a fighter with good boxing skills can eclipse him.

Juanma is just very limited offensively and defensively.

The guy doesn't seem to be able to throw accurate punches and most of the time he's throwing sloppy punches, and gets hit with almost everything.

Salido = underrated ( records only matter for hyped and overprotected boxers)
Lopez=overrated ( he is good, but no that good)

Yup. Juanma showed that he's a very talented boxer who has his flaws but is still capable of beating a lot of good fighters. Salido is just all wrong for him on so many levels and has the experience to exploit what's necessary to win.

This is why i dont really care about a 0 on a guys record, it 99% of the time just means they were very protected.
Salido cameup the hard way and as a previous poster pointed out he only lost 3 times in the last 10 years and 1 he avenged the other 2 were vs p4p type fighters.

Castillo also had 10 losses or so does that make him a bum? he only got recognition because most people feel he beat Mayweather once.
