March 10 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Live on Showtime. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRlJNImIwUM[/ame] Who you got? :think
Delighted to hear the rematch is offical, going to be a repeat of a great fight. I think that Juanma should be able to win this fight wide on the cards if he just boxes to a game plan, hes matured sinc their last fight and Salido has gotten older, so Juanma should box his way to a late stoppage or wide(ish) UD. But if he comes out swinging looking for a KO or trying to get revenge then there is a very high possiblity that Salido knocks him out again. Either way im excited about this fight,
Good fight. I still like JuanMa, and i think he has the beating of Salido. He needs to box his way inside this time rather than swinging away. I think he wins a decision with a few hairy moments along the way
I'm still hoping to see Juanma in with Gamboa at some stage, possibly even Donaire, so I'm hoping he can pull this one off. For all his faults, he always provides plenty of excitement. I expect him to fight a smarter fight this time around win over the distance.
Juanma was slow, lethargic, and fought a really stupid fight first time around. As a fan of his, I'm tired of him thinking he can just show up and blow the other guy out. Even after he had been badly rocked, he went back to trying to blast Salido out rather than trying to compose himself. He's actually a decent boxer when he wants to be, and if he actually focused on that I have no doubt he would've beat Salido. Credit to Salido though, he's an extremely tough man, and fought a much more intelligent bout than he was credited with, he applied pressure relentlessly, but smartly at the same time. He knew how vulnerable Lopez was to the right over the top, and kept it in his face all night. His will to win was extraordinary, even after Juanma came storming back at him he kept his cool and got back to work. Judging from the debacle against Haya I think the inaugral Lopez fight might have taken a lot out of him though, he certainly seems to have lost a bit of that capacity for punishment. Hopefully Juanma does learn from past mistakes this time, fights with some intelligence and takes Salido out late after some initial difficulty with Salido looking to force the issue again.
Last time he had weight issues and was dealing with the divorce. I hope he comes prepared this time or he's getting KO'd again! I do confess to loving that intro routine though. This content is protected
Lopez KO. Very underrated fighter. First fight was a ridiculous stoppage iirc the kind of stoppage you would see on Sky.
Watched Salido's last fight, it wasn't good for Orlando. I reckon JuanMan will beat him this time around, by KO.
How much of that might have been down to Salido not taking Haya seriously and Haya viewing it as the fight of his life though? If the wars have caught up with Salido then JuanMa isn't the type of guy he wants to be fighting, but I'm on the fence there. I'm also on the fence about who wins. If Lopez uses his superior boxing skills and fights smart, and has worked on his defense since that first fight, then I think he wins on points. If Salido has had something taken out of him, JuanMa might even stop him. But if Lopez hasn't learned from that first fight, and doesn't make the adjustments, I think the result ends the same. I dunno. The Mike Oliver fight just isn't enough to judge what Lopez has or hasn't learned from the loss. Or to be more accurate, the nature of it.
I think Juanma wins by TKO, I thought this after the first match but Salidos last fight made me more confident. I'm still not taking Salido lightly though, he has shown he can KO Lopez and Lopez needs to be more tachtical in this fight rather than all steam ahead. Good fight, glad its been made.
:think I'm not sure about that, dude. Did you see the fight yourself? I certainly didn't get that impression from watching it, Siri was absolutely battering Haya pretty convincingly before getting absolutely nailed with the first shot Haya had thrown in about 2 minutes, and then got decked at the opening of the fourth as he seemingly hadn't recovered from the previous round. Looking at the replay it certainly doesn't strike you as being as big of a shot as it does in real time. He got careless in trying to take him out but I wouldn't have viewed it as him taking the fight lightly, personally. Which is what worries me about him, seeing as he's never been one to get severely rocked by the biggest of hitters, much less Weng Haya.
