My thoughts is that Juanma is VERY limited defensively and offensively. Just watching Juanma throw those sloppy punches you could tell that Salido would obviously counter him everytime. Juanma has always been overrated, yes he has a huge heart and power but without the skills that won't mean anything against top fighters.
Juanma even tried to box, but after he knew he couldn't do ****, he then went back to what he does best, putting pressure on fighters and going just exchanging blows until he gases out.
Looks like Salido would've been robbed had he not won by stoppage. He still should not continue to win by taking such punishment.
Lopez just isn't that good, simple as that. He's fun to watch, he's shortening his life, but in terms of "elite" he's not. It's not Salido per se, it's anyone who has a decent chin and doesn't shy away from busting him up.
I say **** defense vs. wide punches, average reflexes and handspeed and fighting flatfooted are JuanMa's kryptonite, Salido is just a good package that could execute the winning strategy without getting KTFO, becuase Lopez is a very dangerous and hard hitting boxer-puncher on the front foot.
Na Lopez isn't a highly skilled technician, but he's not that one dimensional either. He's actually good with timing punches since he's not blinding fast like the punch he used to drop Salido that was a well placed shot. Juanma is built like a tank only ones I see stopping him were obviously Salido and Gamboa plus the fight was not one sided. Leaky defense sure, but I think Salido should get more credit for not just dropping Lopez, but keeping him there. If the fight would of been one sided THEN one can say Lopez is done, but it wasn't one sided. I really don't think he's done.
