Well great talents find a way and besides he almost stopped him in the last round which appeared to be the only round he seemed to let his punches go. Why couldn't he have done that earlier in the fight? He was lost and out of his depth I think the gold medals must have gotten to his head

It wasn't the weight or the low blows that cost Lomachenko the fight. It was bad choices. His first bad choice was to fight in the first place. His second bad choice was to hold instead of box. His third bad choice was to accept the repeated low blows that were draining him instead of retaliating in kind or even complaining out loud. That cost him the fight and like Salido said, welcome to the pros fool. This is the fight game and sometimes we box.

I wonder why the ref didn't warn Salido? Duhhh? :think

This fight also shows limitations in the boxing scoring system. There were two clear rounds 11-12. Both to Loma. Many others were close. He got no advantage for those.

What is worth more, 5 punches that land on your opponents arms, or a good clean headshot? Loma was throwing clean headshots, Salido wass winging with his head down anywhere from the knee up to the shoulders. If he really landed so much, wtf was Loma still so fresh at the end?

Clear rounds should be worth more than razor thin close rounds.

It wasn't just the weight difference, that was a big part of it...to come in fighting someone 2 weight classes above you is difficult for anyone especially in your second fight...

I think the low blows really took a lot of the fight out of Lomanchenko held him back a little from letting his hands go...

with that said even in hostile territory fighting a guy 15lbs heavier and having Larry "Low Blow" Cole in the ring Lomanchenko had Salido out on his feet in the 12th...

I think VL learned a lot from that fight and he'll be a better fighter because of it. Honest question though....would anyone have deducted a point from Salido for that holding in the last round?

If Rigo came in overweight against Lomachenko he'd still be lighter than him, Rigo is a small 5''4 dude.

People also seem to be overlooking the fact that Lomachenko landed more punches than Salido, despite throwing far less.

Amazing performance from Loma and nothing to be ashamed of,, nearly had Salido out of there

I did think though that if Loma was as good as we say he is he would have handled Salido with the ease that Gamboa and Garcia had

Lol, all those guys came within the limit (some like Canelo probably drained themselves to MAKE that weight). What a re****ed ass comparison.

But yeah, Lomachenko lost the fight due to styles and fouling more than the weight IMO.

Salido won simply because he used the ancient Puerto Rican technique known as the "lowblow".

It's a veteran move which wins fight. You have to have SKILL to master it without being dq'd, Trinidad perfected this to a tee and Cotto and Danny Garcia to a certain extent. Without it, I doubt Holyfield would of been able to compete and become an ATG. His mastery of the "double dip" combo is stuff of legend.

This fight was a learning experience for Loma and he has become a better fighter because of it. If he fought Salido again he would beat him.
