Former World This content is protected Organization (WBO) featherweight This content is protected champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27 KOs) may have been wishing for the date of August 20 to come through, but it's not very likely to happen. Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 23 KOs), who stopped the 30-year-old Lopez in eight rounds on April 16 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, says he is still planning to make the first defense of his title on a July date in Sonora, Mexico and then face Juanma in September or later."I prepared very well for that fight against Juanma, and did what many considered to be an impossible task-winning by Knockout to secure the World title. Now Lopez recognize me a lot more,I hope to make the first title in Sonora, and then I'll give Juanma a rematch."Salido said:
Salido deserves a defense in front of his Mexican fans, in fact he should only take the rematch in Mexico. It'd be only fair.
Desreve has nothing to do with it.Arum and the boys at Top Rank will put this fight on when THEY want to-not when Salido wants to.
That is unfortunately true. But Salido can sell just as many tickets and you bet Mexican fans won't throw bottles all over the ring, commentators, politicians etc. What a shameful display it was, shame on Lopez' fans.
IS there an immediate rematch clause? IF not Salido dont have to do ****!! Whos his number 1 contender or mandatory? I think he should defend against Ponce Deleon.
