Salido-Vargas is easily the fight of the year, not Thurman-Porter

There were more punches thrown in Salido-Vargas, the exchanges were more brutal, more shifts in momentum, with Vargas boxing at times but doing so on a high-wire, Vargas hurting Salido in I think the sixth and Salido coming back at the end of the round, then Salido outlasting Vargas and winning the last two rounds.

Thurman-Porter was a high-paced fight in which both guys showed heart, but too many of the rounds looked the same and it didn't reach the drama or intensity that Salido-Vargas did. That Porter had to maul and push between landing punches is what most detracted from the fight for me. Thurman-Porter was a really good fight, Salido-Vargas might be the greatest fight since Vazquez-Marquez III.

Best since Vazquez-Marquez III? I disagree. Bradley-Provo and Miura-Vargas were both better IMO.

As for Thurman-Porter, it was back and forth with both guys getting hurt and stunned during the fight. It was also a more significant fight for the landscape of boxing. Everyone had been waiting way too long for two top welters of the new era to get in the ring against each other and it finally happened. On top of that it was a action packed, back and forth fight with both fighters earning more respect and fans. It get's my vote over Salido-Vargas.

Four eyed Mauro Renallo and Haymon propaganda demographic machine tell me it is Thurman/Porter so that's good enough for me.

That was a good fight, not remotely in foty area. I am hoping PBC survives long enough to put on some more good matchups. If they could by dumb luck get a Barerra/Morales or Chico/Castillo type fight in front of 2.5 million viewers just imagine. I really think people have no concept of how good live boxing can be if the good fights are made. I hear talk about Mma fights being classic and I have to laugh, and I've seen most all of them. If the public thought last wk was good, they would sh@t themselves if they really saw a great fight. Unfortunately, what is this, like the second decent matchup in PBC history?

    Agree wholeheartedly.:good

Thurman-Porter was solid as hell, but Salido-Vargas was almost transcendental, somewhere around the 4th or 5th round you forget you're watching a match and you almost start experiencing it. It was a masterpiece of savagery.
