I think the second part of (b) provides some of the answer:

'b) .... and his experience as a veteran made him pull through'

If you include purposely coming in well over weight, low blows and roughing up your opponent - all pro tactics and they served Salido well. Those low blows in particular looked painful and the ref's inability to intervene effectively really helped Salido.

I think there is also something in Gannicus' view:

Lomachenko does still retain an amateur style of fighting. Brilliant, but amateur. That served him well against Gary Russell jr who fights in a similar style, but not against a seasoned pro like Salido with the advantages above stacked against him.

Loma would skin him in a rematch though if both boxers fought at the same weight. Those same advantages that won Salido the fight would melt away and with a bit more experience Loma's quality would have the day.

    Salido is easy to drop.

Its just an issue he has, I wouldnt blame his eye socket. Garcia was just too much for him.

That Thai guy dropped him 3 times, that completely unknown Chinese guy dropped him twice.

Mikey would knock him around like a rag doll again if they ever fight.

Saliso is well past 126lbs. They won't be fighting Loma again, unless the latte moves up. More likely he fights Mikey with an real ref who will DQ him for the cheating slob he is.

Salido was holding on for dear life at the end of the first fight, I think Loma played it safe in the beginning but really came on late. Salido probably should have had a point deducted.

Good experience fight for Loma and I think a second fight would be a Loma win by mid round stoppage

Thing is Salido's been on the slide for the last 2-3 yrs, and only loses to the elite, and not without giving them hell. Loma as great as he is has NO inside game. That's why he'll always be troubled by an elite inside fighter. Unless he can have a gameplan where he can keep Siri in center of the ring, even still, Siri has exceptional boxing skills. I think Loma should move on, he has plenty of opponents with Nonito, Mares, Gonzalez, and rising stars like Walters, Rios, and Sonsona. Of course, there's also the much anticipated fight with 122 jedi-like Rigo, or Frampton and LSC in the not too distant future. Salido has outgrown 126.

    Salido probably wins again.

The worst mistake Loma and his fans could make is assuming Loma did enough to win first time round, that line of thinking would lead one to believe they didn't need to improve on a losing performance.

Salido won because he was a cheating scumbag who was a Super Featherweight fighting against a Featherweight. Even with the weight advantage, he needed a crooked referee, crooked judges and at least three low blows per round yet still went life and death and was nearly stopped in the 12th. The only scumbags that support Salido's win are the cabbies and they know themselves well.

    Bullsh*t.

Lomo would take that fight tomorrow and he calls the shots.

And don't kid yourself-- Lomo dominates Salido in the rematch. Think Rd 12 only sooner.

Salido got nailed by lefts in his last fight

    Loma hurt him late

I figure this time Loma gets there sooner and stops him

Salido reminds me of Hatton dipping his shoulder prior to attack he sells himself out

I figure if Loma is at all decent he can see this and exploit it like Garcia did

Please no, that'd be foolish, Lomachenko needs to forget about Salido for a while before he's fully comfortable at pro level, you don't want another setback in your pro career.

So Mayweather can come overweight vs Marquez, but Siri can't against Loma? What a hypocrite!
