:good Salita could enter the ring dressed as an Ascetic jew armed with a Galil assault rifle, and Khan could come in rigged up like a suicide bomber...it would be an absolute riot :-(
security would see, as soon as they saw khan, "osama i knew you would come back to new york" and would get takin down
Khan would stand Salita on his head. Salita is another John Duddy-esque hype job who only got to where he is because his background appeals to a large number of people in the North-East USA.
I've seen a bit of Salita on various undercards and I see no way in which he troubles this version of Khan. If I'm not mistaken, if Khan were to beat Salita he would get a very decent IBF ranking. That said, he's got one title and his name is properly out there now so rankings are not really an issue for Khan to get the big fights. Where is that poster that Longcount did that Ishy posted in here?
Call me crazy but I want to see this fight, it would be good for Khan on two levels. We all knew going into the Kotelinik fight that Kahn hadn't really done anything of real worthyness of a world title shot and his resume shows that, Salita may not be the greatest of contenders at this level but he is still a level above a lot of what Khan has faced so far so it would be a good learning experience for him and would leave him in good stead for the tougher tests that are out there. And also by fighting and beating Salita he can get the mandatory out of the way fairly quickly and then go for bigger fights. The only thing I would have to say though is that I would not want to see this fight in 90 days I am sure Khan is fairly drained mentally and physically I would prefer it if he had an extra 3/4 weeks for either a fight in late October or Novermber. And I do not want to see him turn lazy in the regularity of his outings I want to see him in at least 3 fights in the next 12 months.
Dont be too surprised if Salita gives up his mandatory. That kid is a bad joke. Iv never seen fighter protected as much as Salita. That being said dont sell him short. He's a very slick southpaw with a style similar to Sharmba Mitchell.
Nice comfortable defense first up would not bother me, not impressed by Salita one bit They will really hype up the Muslim-Jew thing aswell, could generate some decent interest.
Religion doesnt need to come into boxing. If this was promoted under a Jewish Muslim rivalry the results may not be nice.
I was thinking that Salitia could do his ring walk in merkava tank and Khan could does his flanked by the leader of Hamas. Good natured high jinx and all that.
