Salita -V- McCloskey @ 140lbs : Who Wins? I actually think Salita might stop McCloskey and that says alot about McCloskey, Both were/are undefeated fighters that fought tomato cans and got/will get blown away when they step up to world class. Your views please
I've only seen 58 seconds of Salita and he didn't look too great! McCloskey by KO. But it's not an informed opinion by any means
Salita rose to the top on the back of being a orthodox Jew and a series of very easy wins... I'm actually amazed that he came back after the Khan defeat so badly was his reputation destroyed. McCloskey isn't as good as some make out, he will be beaten by the first genuine world class opponent he faces, but he is simply too good for a man who, if he was British, would struggle to win a Lonsdale belt.
According to a Lou DiBella interview in BM he refused to fight anyone worthwhile, and eventually he let him go. Tried to make a fight between him and Paulie for the shot at Cotto and was turned down flat atsch No mention of money, terms, venue - NOT INTERESTED. Bearing in mind DiBella is a pretty honest and honourable man I'm inclined to believe him.... McCloskey bangs him out in the first three rounds.
Salita is in a fairly decent fight next, well on paper anyway it seems. The guy has been a former World Champ (His next opponent). I'll judge after I see that fight. But if I was to pick, then I'd say McCloskey by TKO/KO
McCloskey by ko or tko. It wouldn't be a series of flash knockdowns with the ref waving it off either, McCloskey would hurt this guy.
