Some guys will never be literal champions, but are champions of life, and champions to their fans.

Kevin Johnson started boxing late and came out of nowhere to earn a draw with streaking and more experienced Timur Ibragimov, the "cousin" of Sultan who they were pushing as a top guy. He made and interesting contender to Vitali Klitsschko in the worst era of heavyweight boxing ever, and though he didn't win a round, he went the distance with Dr. Ironfist at a time when it was underheard to do so.

Though subsequently he has mostly lost to the big names, he has been in there with greats including Klitschko, Fury, and Joshua, and has managed wins over spoilers, gatekepers, fringe contenders, outright contenders, a former heavyweight titlist, and tonight, a former cruiserweight champion in Yoan Pablo Hernanez. A notable list includes:

    Robert Hawkins
    Demetrice King
    Bruce Seldon
    Devin Vargas
    Harold Scoiners
    Alex Leapai
    Albert Sosnowski
    Soloman Haumono
    Francesco Pianeta
    Yohan Pablo Hernadez

Congratualtions on being a people's champ and having a great career. Hopefully, at 40, you should be hanging them up, although I wouldn't mind seeing a very winnable fight against Sam Peter or Sergei Liakovich.

Can argue he did enough to beat Hammer and Charr as well.

Great career? Hmm. He didn't even try to win sometimes.

Good God I can barely watch any of this mans fights to be honest, he's like the Joe Bugner of the past 10 years or so, literally stinks the joint out time and again and does the bare minimum, fights to survive rather than to win, tho you have to respect that he's fought a Who's Who of HW boxing but let's be honest an interview about his career & who he rates etc will be far more interesting than any of his fights,
