Lets say Salvador Sanchez has the exact same career as Chacon. What kind of record would he have walked away with? Would he have more losses, fewer, could have have not transitioned out of featherweight successfully with age to begin with?

His most difficult assignments would be...

An increasingly older Ruben Olivares at featherweight, three matches
    A much younger Danny Lopez
Transitioning four pounds up to one thirty, and then facing...
    Limon four times
    Cornelius Boza-Edwards 2x
    Fellow great Alexis Arguello
One last weight jump, this one against the highly touted lightweight Ray Manicini.

He would edge Olivares, beat Lopez and Limon, possibly draw with Boza-Edwards, lose a close UD to Arguello, and lose a close one to Mancini.

It’s too hard to tell because in mythical matches we want to use the guy at his best. It’s impossible to tell what wear and tear he’d have. I’d say Olivares at 126 would maybe beat a young Sánchez once but will have had too much for everyone else at 126/130. We’ve never seen Sanchez fight even at 130 so too hard to speculate about how he’d do at 135.

It’s probably easier to guess how Chacon does against Sal’s opposition and Id say he beats it all apart from Gomez and Nelson.

I see it similar..except I would give him a nod over Boza Edwards...I think Arguello bears him, and favor Mancini but still think Sanchez might have a shot? Difficult to say how effective he would be at higher weights.

Sanchez had the discipline Chacon wished he had. So, he'd never have the same career.

Sanchez never fought above 126 lbs.

Much different style than Chacon and absorbed much less punishment.

He'd beat the 75 version of Oliveres that destroyed Chacon.

He'd stop Lopez. If ever a style was made to order.

He'd be much more competitive against Arguello than Chacon was.

He would counter Mancini but wouldn't have the power Arguello had and may not be as strong at 135 lbs. He may not win but would do much better than Chacon.

He'd cut up and easily decision Limon.

    He'd beat Boza by U D.

There is footage of Sanchez above the featherweight limit. He looked exactly the same. Admittedly it was just a keep busy fight against a journeyman IIRC.

Yeah it was Nico Perez who was also a Featherweight so essentially two Featherweights agreeing to a few lbs over. This was about 6 weeks before the Gomez fight.

He carried the weight well though. I think he’d be just fine, considering Chacon was a former feather himself and Sal being leagues above him technically and in terms of ring IQ.

Boza would be the hardest fight stylistically, but I think he lost his legs a bit cutting to 130 and was drawn into brawls more as a result. So a late stoppage for Sanchez or pulling it out on the cards late is not out of the question.

135 is a different matter of course, Mancini might just show him no respect. But Chacon looked comically outsized there against a strong but not exactly ginormous lightweight in Boom Boom. Sanchez wouldn’t I don’t think.

Consider of course that the smaller Gomez managed to go the distance with Lockridge (that was a robbery though) I just do not see anything that points to Sanchez being markedly different at the higher poundage, nor there being anyone in this particular hypothetical that could exploit his weaknesses (I’d favour Arguello to beat him at 130 and 135 but it’s not a certainty)
