I know I'm a bit obsessed with it, but to me it's one of the all time great fights....these two hall of famers were throwing absolute bombs in there...and both displaying high level skill with an incredible work rate.

Top 10 fight of all time

Great fight in the greatest boxing year of my life. I loved the World Boxing article on it also. SANCHEZ was poetry. His defeat of Nelson is a masterpiece and I also think is Nelson's greatest performance too.

If Nelson had the fight IQ to exploit Sanchez`s lack of defense after he jabbed then the skill part of your comment would of held more water, but Sanchez was great and was getting better at avoiding right hand counters before he died tragically.

Great fight but Nelson still too green for my liking plus he took the fight on a weeks notice. Still a great great fight.

It was a great opportunity for Nelson win or lose. If he didn't have the Sanchez fight he would've remained an unknown possibly for yrs. To come. Also fighting that well against Sanchez had to be a huge confidence booster for him. Though Nelson loss the fight. In the long run it was a huge boost for his career overall.

Was he any greener than Witherspoon was vs Holmes?

Excellent fight--a true classic. I'm more impressed by the inexperienced Nelson's performance than Sanchez's, especially considering that he took the fight on such extremely short notice.

What does one have to do with the other?? The Holmes Witherspoon fight was not as good as this fight for one thing.
Witherspoon had a full camp unlike Nelson who had one week .
Oh I see your trying to bait me because once again you didn't fully like my answer even though I did call it a great great fight. I guess because I brought to full attention the fact that a very green Nelson with one week of training pushed Sanchez to his very limits. Like I said you get what you see with me. I don't try an be sneaky and come in the back door like you every time someone doesnt agree with you 100%.
Dude you really do have issues like another poster mentioned.
    Grow up man

    .

I think it’s a valid reasonable comparison to make. I’m arguing Nelson wasn’t that green and fought a great fight like Witherspoon did vs Holmes. Sometimes young fighters fight peak fights early in their careers because they are physically capable and just need a little confidence. Azumah was physically at his peak and fought with a lot of confidence tonight and put up the highest workload of his career

I deleted the other part, let’s keep it boxing

Listen, I am just trying to make a case that other fighters with 13 pro fights in their careers have fought great borderline peak fights into their young careers, and being called “green” shouldn’t take away from a great victory

Again you bring up the Frazier post for the second time when I already admitted I started the other post because I felt Frazier was getting #### on. So for the 3rd time I admitt it. Unlike you I am honest here and dont keep trying to bait people like you do with your Dempsey threads. For Christs sake just come out and say you hate the man instead of playing your childish games.
Theres no reason for you to get personal with me. Is that why you wanted to know about our backgrounds so you can make judgments and come to your own conclusions accusing me of being something and worse yet implying that my temper can interfere with my job when you have never met or spoken to me?. Your a police officer. WOW I wont even go there with you after the assumptions you just made about me all over my opinion over Sanchez vs Nelson!! Son are you outta your damn mind??? It's a forum ..RELAX

I deleted the top of my post hoping you would restrict discussion to boxing only...you literally lambasted me and questioned my psych all because I tried to connect another green fights great performance to this one. I don’t think it was unreasonable at all.

Let’s put an end to this

    Dempsey:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again

I have no problem with Dempsey the man

I think he was a great puncher

I think he was massively overrated in a historical sense because in my opinion his duck of harry wills was the worst of all time. I also think his duck of Harry Greb was a bad one. I think his title reign and choice of opposition was **** poor. I think head to head against the elites in history, he is largely unproven because we never saw him beat the best of his era.

That’s it....let’s keep the Dempsey talk out of here, pm me directly if you want to discuss Dempsey

Yeah I’m a cop. I deal with wackos everyday. I talk here so I can get away from the wackos, give my brain a rest.

Let’s get back to Nelson Sanchez....how about Sanchez ability to step it up in the clutch? He had that SRL mystique...so much confidence
