Both fighters deserve credit in this fight, which is the kind of fight everyone wants to see; where you just felt good about it as a boxing fan. I think Sanchez may have realized how bad off Gomez was after the first round *****-slapping, and felt then that it was okay to let Gomez come forward and throw after that, secure in the knowledge that the Puerto Rican was damaged. He was therefore willing to trade a bit more, knowing it would wear more on Gomez than himself given the circumstances. He may have taken more shots himself in the process, but knew that his own shots were far more telling at that point.
"Gomez-Pintor" of 1982 was a great fight and win for Gomez, but Pintor was also a natural 118 pounder then, too........ Gomez got a great win over a smaller man..... Though Pintor later won the title at 126 in 1985 over Juan Mesa down in Mexico by decision..... Still, 'nuff said..... MR.BILLbbb:hat
