Sanchez stopping Nelson and Fenech failing to do so are light years apart, and then some.

Sanchez stopped a Nelson who was in his 14th pro fight that had never been in a top level fight. Sure he fought brilliant but he wasn't the seasoned champion that Fenech fought.

Fenech fought Nelson more than 9 years after Sanchez did. He had not only won the Featherweight title but had defended it half a dozen times. He then won the Junior Lightweight title and defended it a handful of times. The only loss he had in this period of time was in moving way up and losing a decision to an ATG lightweight.

Also note Fenech fought him over 12 rounds and had him spent and barely surviving in the 12th where as Sal stopped him in the 15th round of a 15 round fight.

Having said that i go with the consensus and favor Sanchez. He was somewhat surreal against guys that came at him. His "sharpness" is the key for me here. So accurate and rapid in his responses when attacked. Fenech is no walkover and would have moments. He's probably the strongest fighter I've ever seen around 122-126 but the gap in skill allied to Sanchez's great toughness and insane stamina would have him emerge the impressive winner.
