Oh Naz would be beaten up much worse by Sanchez than by Barrera.

Here's an interesting side bar: Danny was having trouble making 126 at the time of the Sanchez fights, and they did not know **** about Sanchez. Danny and his team regarded Sal as a routine title defense. Taking Sal seriously is probably why Danny did a bit better in the rematch. However, he still got his ass WHIPPED! It's my opinion that even without the weight issues, Danny still loses to Sal. Danny recently said that if he could change one thing in his career, he'd by pass Sanchez, and move up to 130.

    didn't know that. thanks.

Well Sanchez just came out of nowhere. Thing is, he was a fantastic 15-round fighter and sometimes started slow......would he be AS great today? He'd still win I'm sure, but he could see some tight decisions and, nowadays, he might've lost the Nelson fight.

Hell, I'm sure if Sanchez knew he had just 12 rounds he'd still be the same!

15 rounds vs 12 rounds? Both Sal and the guy in your avatar would just step on the gas a bit sooner if they knew they only had 12 rounds.

Sanchez was a bad SOB. I got a chance to talk to Gomez about 5 or 6 years ago and he had nothing but great things to say abou Salvador.

Sanchez made Gomez respect him, I read he was was very disrepectful leading up to the fight, their names will forever be joined and they will remembered as great great warriors.

    Immortals

Sad that Sanchez died so early. RIP

    Agreed.

My greatest fantasy fight is Sanchez-Arguello at 130.

    My God!

Shame they never fought. I'm tempted to say Arguello takes it on points at LW, though that's partly based at never seeing Sal at 135 lbs.

this has been an interesting thread so far for a topic that has been done to death!

due to the warriors being discussed rather than us I suspect!

This is off topic and I don't want to hijack the thread, but the most fun I've ever had in the classic forum was a thread I made about Arguello/Lopez at 126. The thread went for about 5 pages! Danny was at his peak and The Thin Man was a bit green. Alexis moved up right at the same time Danny won his title. The consensus opinion was that Alexis would survive some scary moments in the early going, but take it down the stretch for a clear decision or late TKO. It's one of those great fights that didn't happen simply because two guys barely missed each other. Some people had the opinion that Danny's team would have steered him clear of a sharp shooter like Arguello due to his leaky defense. That may be true. To bad we'll never know!

it would've been an amazing shootout, but an Arguello right ends it....don't know when.
