Salvador Sanchez died at a young age of 23 years old of a car accident,.What would have happen had Salvador Sanchez not have that fatal car accident and continued his boxing career, how far do you think would he have gone?Would he have been able to win multiple titles in the Super Featherweight division if he went up in weight after a few more fights, the Featherweight division and then, the Lightweight division.....HELLUVA FIGHTER WHO COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT.......I REMEMBER WHEN MY COUNTRY MAN WILFREDO GOMEZ WENT UP IN WEIGHT TO CHALLENGE SANCHEZ ONLY TO BE BLOWN AWAY.....I WENT TO SEE THAT FIGHT IN A THEATER,CAUSE IT WAS ON CLOSE CIRCIUIT TV.
nobody will ever know.. you can speculate all you want but who knows he couldve lost in his next fight :hat
Correct on both counts, but I guess what's done is done - trying to spin it positive, a little education for the GF dweebs is never a bad thing. Sanchez was great as it was in a limited career, could have been very great.
at 3:04 Sanchez is asked if he's gonna look for other world titles in other weight classes, he responds "Yes yes i will, because my goal is to Fight Alexis Arguello, and if there's an oportunity to fight for the jr. lightweight title i will do it". at least we know had planned to win titles in other weight divitions. Sanchez looked like he had the frame and skills/style to succeed at higher weights. I would've loved to have seen him against Chavez @ 130 in the mid 80s. I also would've loved to have seen him fight Pedroza, a fight I consider a toss-up.
The two fights with Little Red were a real testament to the quality of Sal's chin. I think he was about as close to un-knockout-able as fighters get.
Sanchez didn't have a lot of time to get things done, but what I'm impressed by is how many great fights we have to remember him by in an otherwise limited time. I do believe he would have met up with Arguello in a latin superfight. I don't know how well Sanchez would carry his weight, but given his age I think he would have hit his prime at 135-140. Don't know if he would have survived Arguello's power, judging by the Lopez fights he had faced a one punch right hand ko artists before. so I would assume he would. If I had to make a call I think Sanchez would have beat Arguello by decision, bothered more by Arguello's height more than power.
thats too much assuming on your part or anybody else.. arguello was an ATG just like sanchez and was taller, bigger, with a lot more reach and wasnt just a one punch KO artist he koed a lot of boxers late.. so i dont know how that wouldve went and we'll never know.. but i hate this kind of threads where people just say things like that cause we will never know :hat
