Just read the short article about Sanchez on the the main site and was wondering if anyone on here could give some more info on the man. How good was he? What fights of his would you recommend I watch? Must admit here there is a gap in my boxing knowledge about this fighter and I want to fill it now. Thanks in advance of any replies

think he would have beaten arguello, and arguello one of my favorite fighters...

but sal was hard to hit and arguello struggled with that pressure as seen when he fought pryor.... and pryor was a lot easier to hit than sanchez...

sanchez the only guy i've ever seen throw a 5-6 punch combination while moving his head and avoiding every punch coming back at him whilst still moving closer to his opponent....

In appreciating the Gomez win, you should also watch some of Gomez's fights leading up to his fight with Sanchez. In particular Gomez's showdown in PR with undefeated Mexican knockout artist Carlos Zarate for the super bantam title. Going into that fight, the fighters had a combined record of 73-0-1 with 72 KO's !!!!

Cheers KC - the list of great fights to watch keeps on growing. This is what the forum should be all about not all the BS arguments and idiotic threads that fill up the place daily

On his way to becoming the best mexican fighter of all time, sorry Chavez Sr., his greatest fights were with Wilfredo Gomez, Azumah Nelson and Danny "Little Red" Lopez, he had the best stamina and great punching power and resistance, in my opinion the biggest what if in boxing, as he wasn't even 24 years old and already was a great champion, one can only imagine how fights with Arguello and Chavez would have been

I would suggest Gomez-Pintor that fight was sick in the same way as Pryor-Arguello.
