Langford had plenty of power. He Ko'd Sam Mcvea, Joe Jeannette, Harry Wills, and George Godfrey for example, all hall of fame heavyweights. On film Ko's Fireman Flynn cold. Imo he could have beaten Johnson, who pulled out of a signed contract to fight him in 1909, and would have very likely would have beaten Johnson from 1912 -1915.

Sam developed into his power as he aged and career progressed. He looks a bit like James Toney on offense, and has the ability to fight inside or out. Every Jack Dempsey turned him down when Langford was past it.

So Langford Ko'd a much better class than Sullivan did, and was very hard to stop in his heavyweight prime.

Dempsey never ducked anyone but had respect for langford!
When Langford made comeback they first wanted Dempseybut they said to him to pick someone easier because Dempsey was too dangerous!
All of Langford kos came late while Dempsey noto nly better KO ratio but had more first rounds KOs!
Langford never knocked someone Sharkey,Willard and Carpentier level and he struggled with guys their level!

Now you've altered that to read"many other books like those I mentioned".
The only interpretation one can draw from this is that you HAVENT read many books on either Greb or Langford.
And we know this is so because their arent that many out there!
Wills, McVey,Jeannette, were all top class heavies when Langford beat them

 

You're wrong - Wills, Jeannette and McVea all were top HWs back then. Not to mention contenders like Gunboat Smith, George Godfrey, Jim Flynn, Jeff Clark, Jack O'Brien, Bill Lang, Klondike Haynes and others.

He knocked out Wills and Ketchel was never a top HW. He got a title shot without any resume at HW, he was nothing in terms of HW fights.
