Both fighters face look clean despite such a tough fight.

The judge scoring 119-109 needs a good slap

No surprises with those cards. Ah well...Big thanks to the Aussies for giving me some boxing on a Wednesday.

That was a very enjoyable fight and I could not pick a winner at the end as it was a very close fight.

I was expecting Goodman to be able to capitalize a bit more on this:

But sometimes, having that MT or general kickboxing background can actually be as much a boon as hindrance in this sport. Luangphon's awkward stance actually helped keep him in position to always be attacking. His conditioning also turned out to be monstrous, as he was marching in throwing heavy uppercuts even in the late going - and Goodman wasn't making him pay nearly enough. Goodman's punches were shorter and his combinations more fluid, yes, but he overthought like crazy and spent way too much time on the backfoot.

    Goodman's hand is broken, confirmed.

Also there are rumors that he already privately declined to challenge Inoue. Smart lad, stay in your lane. :deal:

    Agreed.

When Goodman held his ground mid-range (not in the trenches where he ate too many shots unnecessarily), he was able to put together pretty, punch scoring combinations that would stop the Thai's seemingly relentless forward march.

Goodman won't beat Inoue, but he's a quality operator with room for improvement.

This being so close was as much about Rockman being more formidable than he seemed on available film than it was about Goodman not being ready for international primetime.

Luangphon for having such unsteady looking footing at times was able to eat shots remarkably well, and even pick off a few with some windshield-wiper action with his arms. His stamina was a real eye-opener and some of those quadruple uppercuts were nasty.

Better than your average Thai with a padded undefeated record.

Probably deserves but probably won't get a rematch. Shame his WBC ranking is going to go up in smoke.

Very smart decision as he will get obliterated based on what I watched today.

Still boiling when I think of the 119-109 card as there was not much in what was a very competitive fight from start to finish.

These Thai lads are tough and I always enjoy an underdog willing to walk through punches to land his own against higher skilled boxers.
