Rocky wasn't no stevedore, gandy dancer or off duty deck-hand bum boxer in underpants.
Langford goes to sleep in the late rounds

Qwai is most like Sam in size and stills and style with a huge exception and that is that Langford ws a much, much bigger puncher.

Much bigger puncher! Can't argue with that.

In the little film we have of Langford I don’t think he looks as technical as Marciano or Qawi. But I’ve only seen the one fight with him and he was older. Probably hit like a truck though.

In Jeannette fight, he showed more technical sause than Rocky in any of his filmed fights to me. Qawi is closer, but to me Langford was clearly more skilled than Marciano.

Joe Jennette is Chris Eubank Jr level skill-wise. Imagine what Brock would do to him. Walcott was Mayweather level

I went back and watched everything available lol. I don’t see that he was more technical than Qawi but pretty close to Marciano. I’d put marciano as better defensively just not as fast. But Sam could bang for sure

I think Jeannette was quite a bit better than LaStarza for example.

I think Qawi could be ranked ahead of Sam in terms of skills, though it depends on what you value more.

Why do you think Marciano was better defensively?

Marciano was excellent at slipping the jab and countering. Underrated counter puncher. Was also difficult to hit clean w a combo.
Sam looks more of a straight up kind of guy. He didn’t look as sophisticated as tyson, Frazier or Marciano or Qawi as far as little guy technique goes. He didn’t appear to be slipping rolling dipping etc. the. Again very limited footage. But his hand speed and strength very impressive. Can see why he was so dangerous. A 5”9 bully

Not that I disagree at all, but I’m surprised by the opinions in favour of Langford. Just didn’t expect it. Good stuff. Sam was a great fighter - a true wonder with a variety of power shots in both hands.

Langford was at most 5'7.5". But with disproportionately long arms.
