Not a chance that was the best. It had the potential to be a classic but Matthysse chose to box instead of slug. I'm not saying that you need two sluggers to have a good fight. I'm saying that's both of those guys style and neither is much of a boxer. They were put together because of their style match up, and Matthysse realized that his best path to victory was to change his style. It was still fairly entertaining, but not half of what it could have been, what it was billed to be. It was supposed to be a Gatti vs Ward or a Rios vs Alvarado type explosion. What we got was a bit like Rios vs Alvarado 2 where Alvarado chose to box and move, to accumulate points and not get knocked out, but at least there he engaged in a slugfest for a few rounds and gave the fans what they wanted. The Provodnikov vs Matthysse fight didn't really have almost any toe to toe boxing in a phone booth rock em sock em robots type fireworks, not like Matthysse Molina or Bradley Provodnikov. Kovalev vs Pascal was the best I've seen this year but I doubt it's the best out there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMYnbBY0nAI Watch his reaction when he starts talking about moving up and down in weight. The back story here is that his manager was making these matches for Archie to make as much money as possible. Moore wanted to focus on the HW title. His manager starts to get defensive about Moore asking how they expect him to do all of these incredible things and look at Moore, he gets ready to argue and his manager quickly changes the subject. He was clearly not happy about the situation or his manager.
Thanks for this Steve:good I read that Moore was not a bosom buddy of his then manager but that he got along fine with Kearns.
Here it is. Yeah, Moore didn't seem all that impressed about having to make such a dramatic weight cut. [yt]dPWYn7S399M[/yt] Edit: Already posted, I see. My bad.
Keep building your lies. You had some sort of operation and went dar from the board for 3+ months, remember?! You know darn well why I asked for your email. Hmmm...after that you went dark. Gee, I wonder why. I say your " operation " was for a spine and a new pair of b@lls. Take what you need, you can't buy a moral compass.
I still have your pm asking for my email concerning Joe Choynski .We both know it so stop with **** gutless.
Good description of his approach, but (by necessity) he wasn't one to throw in combination all that much. Smaller gloves and longer distance kind of mandated that he be a bit more reliant on single, precise power punches from what I've seen of him. Of course, if he got someone in trouble he certainly could put punches together, so it wasn't a case of his offensive skill-set being deficient.
