Elusive Blue's video of The Tar Baby. Hope no one is offended by that? Sam Langford Vs Bill Lang In Full Color - YouTube
Good description. He was basically a stunted 6' wrecking machine. His power, chin, and chest measurements, were in line with that. He had no weaknesses, apart from being short. If you could stretch him to 6', then you would have a heavyweight without a flaw. then again, perhaps the fact that he was short, forced him to be brilliant in every other department?
I mean he’d have the flaw of being from the early years. If we took him as he was and made him fight today he’d get slaughtered. Same thing would happen to say a heavyweight today if we threw them in a time machine.
I don't see any particular weakness in Langford's boxing style outside of height. A shame that we didn't see more of his best wins, cause outside of Jeannette all films we have are against outmatched opponents and Joe didn't do far better either
And literally fought in almost all weights beating a lot of great boxers in those days, dude was a machine no doubt in his day
Get out of here with your nonsense. of course it lacks proof we can’t test it like 90% of debates here it’s all a guessing game. How do you think Langford does today if we took him as he was and threw some new gloves at him?
Great link. Elusive Blue deserves huge credit for his vids.He looks to obtain the best orig. footage in the first instance and then the colorisation adds an extra dimension. I always check in to see what’s new. Besides seeing Langford actually punch into Lang, I love how the power of Sam’s punch is well implied by the curious sight of the bigger man, Lang’s, leeriness and efforts to stay well out of harms way of Little Sam’s bombs. Sam’s confidence and swag is also evident in his lowered gloves and nonchalant walk down of Lang. He was a great one for sure.
He should be in everyone's top 10 list. Amazing skills, freakishly long arms which make him tough for any sized or weight boxer. There's a reason Jack Johnson refused to fight him after he won the HW belt, and why Dempsey had the highest opinion of him.
Not at all! We're all men here, not a bunch of cancel culture crybabies I'm curious to know, how do you think a rematch with Ketchel would have gone? It was supposed to be for the title but Ketchel abused some guy's horse, and wound up executed.
