How do you think Langford would have done with this type of schedule at HW? Who here would have stopped his run? Would anyone have done so? Could Sam disembark for WW2 with an unbeaten record?

Note that this is about the USA's involvement, not the outbreak of WW2 itself.

    1937:
    Tommy Farr

    1938:
    Nathan Mann
    Harry Thomas
    Max Schmeling

    1939
    John Henry Lewis
    Jack Roper
    Tony Galento
    Bob Pastor

    1940
    Arturo Godoy
    John Paycheck
    Arturo Godoy II
    Al McCoy

    1941
    Red Burman
    Gus Darazio
    Abe Simpson
    Tony Musto
    Buddy Baer
    Billy Conn
    Lou Nova

Schmeling, maybe. Buddy Baer's size might cause him problems, but Langford had enough success against other large heavyweights like Bill Tate and Harry Wills that I think he'd get past it. I'd pick him to knock out Conn.

He would probably have found the schedule somewhat sparse and relaxing.

He would have been capable of beating any of those guys but if he fought them all it is likley that he would drop a decision to one of them or more.

Billy Conn might be the man if I had to take a stab at it.

Other fighters who could posibly get past him are Farr, Schmeling, and Pastor.

Basicaly if Sam Langford was in a situation like Louis where he could be 100% prepared for every fight the world would tremble.

I don't think that Langford would punch through Farr, I think Tommy would hear the final bell. But I do think that Langford's more adaptable style would make life harder for him and I think he would finish the fight even more busted up than he was after Louis. Wide UD for Langford.

Sorry, I think Conn, Galento,Buddy Baer, would be a problem for Sam but Gody,Farr, would be no Joke and Walcott and Charles would beat him

I dont think that Langford would age as well as Louis for stylistic reasons. I suspect that after the war he would be prety much done.

    Quite.

With Langford able to breath between bouts his opponents would prove more tender for his jolting arms.

A tough, talented man like Farr or a virtuoso like Conn may edge him here n' there, but Langford would make real waves with the correct management.

The big guys like B. Baer and A. Simon may get crushed easier than Louis did to them.
