Since some think he'd do well vs Joe Louis, how would he do vs the Holyfield that unified the cruiser weight division in 1987? This content is protected vs This content is protected
You're almost comparing 2 different sports with the way boxing moved on from the 1900s to 1980. Holyfield in a shutout and quite likely stops him
Against certain type of fighters yes, but i don't see 189 pounds evander beating strong compact guys with power and stamina weighing 185-190 pounds. Marciano would kill 189 pounder evander
I'd go with Holyfield. Sam, for all of his greatness (and I have him #1 P4P), wouldn't pull this off imo. Yeah, he's possibly the P4P hardest hitting guy in the sports history, but Holyfield has such a reach advantage and such perfect counters that I like him to sit back a bit in this one. Time Sam, let him be the aggressor, as he so often was, and catch him with something he can't handle. Whilst being very proven against HWs like McVea, Jeanette, Wills ect; he did lose to the best HW he fought, and Holyfield was a damn-sight better than Johnson, in my eyes. I'm massive fans of both of these guys though, it'd be one helluva fight.
He beat Qawi, knocking him out in the rematch, who's pretty much the nearest thing you could get to Langford. Holyfield was pretty much stopping everyone at 190lbs, world champions I'd pick Holyfield over every 190lber in history. Technical boxing skill he's 3-4 levels above Marciano and I'd expect him to put a clinic on.
Holyfield against Qawi, who has the same dimensions as Langford and was a great fighter in his own right This content is protected
Although technicaly you are right, Langford wasn't a HW then and he wasn't at his best against HWs yet against Johnson. It's also notable that Johnson had much different style than Jack - Evander would go to war against Sam, while Johnson always made as few risks as possible. I wonder, who was the closest comparison to Holyfield that Langford fought?
