My pick is Holyfield KO 1, however, Janitor installs Langford as a 2/1 favourite. Janitor's view is one extreme and mine is the other, it's interesting. Though, I feel I am correct or close to it.

Let's see your selections my friends.

Langford is better than Holyfield in virtualy every conceivable way.

He is a batter boxer, better puncher, better ring general and more mobile.

How is Holyfield going to win exactly?

    Ridiculous.

Langford was never stoped in 170+ fights untill he was in his late 30s and an old man. This despite fighting many of the top heavyweights of his era a dozen times or more.

There is not a cat in hells chance that Hollyfield kmnocks him out.

    Headbutt?

I think this one would go the distance. Tough for Sam to be matched up with what could arguably be the best cruiserweight ever.

Langford sometimes fought not on the level, if the odds were good enough he would make sure he lost.

Holyfield easily compares power wise with him.

Langford had more natural ability, was more mobile and had better ring generalship, but Holyfield's ticker is beyond reproach, something Sammy cannot say, plus Langford's training habits were very poor on occasion.

Langford body took a lot more abuse than 190lbs Holyfield.

This makes me think Holyfield can edge a might close 15 round decision.

I think this would be a wonderful, wonderful fight. I really think this is a fantasy classic.

I'm going to pick Langford. Both are maxed out in terms of mentality, you can't do better than these men in that regard. But I think that Langford is the better composite puncher. I also think that Langford is smart enough to keep the fight where he needs it to be to be sure of victory IMO, mid-range, room to punch without finding himself clinched to death.

However, Hollyfield will win plenty of rounds and I'm not cross with anyone who picks Hollyfield by decision.

Anyone who picks a KO is, to my mind, not making a realistic pick.

Be a beautiful fight though. You could learn more about boxing watching these two fight a trilogy than most other fighters being matched a dozen times.

    LANGFORD PTS.

If Holyfield ('96 version) can stop a stong chinned, still dangerous version of Tyson in his tracks, it's quite possible that he could repeat the same trick on the smaller Langford. I say it's a fairly close contest through the mid-rounds, however workrate and stamina would come into play later on in the fight and the ref steps in to save Langford before the end of the 12th Round. :good

The thing is if there was a cruiserweight division during their eras, whom would have chose to stay there instead of bulk up and go to heavy?

Holyfield chose to do it later after establishing himself as the best cruiser. I think the others would have chose to make the move up.

The problem with this is the difference between Tyson and Langford which is the world. With Tyson you have one problem if you're Hollyfield; Tyson's punching. A big problem but still only one.

"Solve" Langford's punching as an attacking fighter - which may be easier than solving Tyson's punching - and you then have a lethal boxer on your hands. You know? There is more.
