Sam Langford vs Evander Holyfield

From footage, I'd definitely say Holyfeild but Langford is infinitely more proven and the Footage probably isn't him at his best

 

I'd say Holyfield's wins at heavyweight are much better, though Langford is much better P4P.

I'm not sure Wills is a better win than even a past it Tyson.

Wills was good, but I don't think he was anything that special. His best wins were probably against an aging McVea and Langford.

 

He had an impressive streak, but when you look into it, I think Wills's resume gets overstated. It's a bit quantity over quality, and the quality really drops later on.

 

I'm not gonna lie, that reply wasn't meant for you, but the other guy. However I cannot agree that a post prison Tyson for a past it Holyfield is a better win than a Prime wills for an almost completely deteriorated Langford

Trouble is, if Langford was that detiorated by that point, then Will's resume falls apart, since McVea was generally losing to Langford around that time. Wills was pretty green when Langford first KOed him too, though not so much the second time.

Langford was sliding, but not as much as you're making out, I think it was more of a passing the torch type thing, with Langford's time ending as Wills's began. Langford was more shot in their later fights, but he wasn't actually winning those.

At heavyweight I suspect Langford and Wills are around the same ball park prime for prime.

 

What I meant is that Langford was not the fighter of years before, also he was much more past it than Holyfeild was against Tyson, or even Lewis.
The original point was that Wills (of at least the second fight) was a harder fight than Tyson of 96.

Edit: I agree Wills résumé does basically fall apart with Langford's age
A little sidenote, Langford was practically blind by the end of his career, and losing sight by that point

Langford would have to have one hell of a resume if you think that it was infinitely better and more proven than that one.

 

Yeah, read through it,

Wills, Gans, McVey, Jack Johnson, OG Joe Walcott (if your including robberies so will I), Ketchel, Jeanette, J Smith, G Smith, Philly O Brian, Jim Johnson, Clark, Norfolk, Tiger Flowers,

Most of them a good 5/6 times (he fought wills 17 times I believe)

Also Holyfeild fought Tyson Twice, not 3 times
