Listen, it's impossible to make a pick here and really believe you are right. It's fine to make a pick but there's no way to pick and feel good about it I don't think. Me, I alwas go for Langford because although both are spooky, Langford's a spooky puncher. But everything everyone writes in reposte will be true: Langford never did catch a fighter this fast, Greb wasn't ever knocked out near his prime, lesser fighters than Greb did make the distance with Langford. But, yeah, Langford.
If greb was a slightly bigger guy...greb....nobody beats greb p4p save Robinson....but even here greb by decision 54/46....
Over 15 I'd could see Langford will figure him out and land something big eventually. Depending how longs it is after 15. If 20 Greb could outwork his way to a UD.
One of the most unanswerable (is that a word, lol?) but provacative questions in boxing. Could Sam deal with Harry speed and workrate? Could Harry deal with Sams power and viciousness?
I like Langford by KO. Just too great of a fighter. I am reading a second bio of Sam right now call, "Pulling No Punches: The Sam Langford Story". I feel Sam was at his best when he weighed about 157 (from reading of his weights during fights in this book) and think he at that weight is the greatest middleweight that ever lived. Greb would not bewilder Sam, but I think Langford would hit too hard for Greb in their primes.
there is a reason so many ol fighters call Langford the best while Greb is left off a lot of lists and really was forgotten except by the hardcore fans. BTW there appears to be a new bio of Abe Attell coming out for those who love that era
Let me review the online videos of Greb and I'll get back to you. Meanwhile, the video of Langford shows a nearly unbeatable boxer. Dude was amazing at any weight.
