Jersey Joe would stomp Sam Langford into the ground. His technique is just so much better. Langford was an excellent athlete and his skills were good for their time but he's not going to match up well against top level talent in the 1940s.

    Awesome match up.
Sam Langford is possibly the greatest fighter of all time p4p. So far ahead of his time. Last night Bernard Hopkins employed similar tactics in how he diffused a younger stronger opponent in clinches, and his footwork from the outside. So what is old, is new again....
This match up would be an absolutely fascinating bout from a tactical standpoint. Both had the same objective in mind...but went about it differently. Walcott's approach was more defensive, Walcott's feints, footwork and style was predicated on drawing an opponent close and into power shots, as he would then pivot out on an angle. Langford used feints, and angles to attack, applying pressure and moving an opponent to positions where he would want them, so he could unload with power.
It would be interesting to watch Walcott sidestep Langford's step in power jab and counter...Also interesting would be to watch Langford's pressure and defense gradually take away Walcott's distance and turn it into an inside contest. Both fighters carried dynamite, it would have been a great tactical and action fight due to the similarities and differences in style. Definitely a fun fight to think about...

I think Langford is bound to hit jersey at some point and when he does it's lights out.
