ive seen walzack and stock on another site a while back but never the villenmain fight. thats the one im interested in, still can get a look though, strange i cant only access some vids and not all.

those same robinson fights were on espn classic a couple nights back. the langford-jeannette fight is like gold to me.

Ok, so I just saw the footage.

Jeanette has been something of a mystery to modern historians, but after seeing this film, we can get an idea of his style, tendencies, and best stuff.

Joe holds his hands low, bends his knees a lot, and uses his shoulder a bit to limit the oppositions openings. He is very mobile, and quick, capable of taking quick steps backwards to make his opposition miss. He can also quickly circle around his man. His foot speed is very good.

On offense Jeanette has a long jab that he sticks out with good speed, a straight right to the body, and an amateurish, but exciting leaping left hook. Jeanette's right hand seems average, and without top level power. Joe does have a good straight right to the body, though, but not much of a cross to the head in a conventional sense. In a clinch, Jeanette can impose his size a bit, but he's not a clamp down type of clincher.

As I suspected Jeanette's heart, and ability to recuperate from blows is outstanding. Langford floors him three time in a round, yet Jeanette beats the count each time, and comes back reasonably well to start the next rounds.

I have seen Langford a few times. Sam is short, but very compact. He has very broad and strong shoulders, a piece of iron for a chin, and hits very hard with accuracy. Langford is poor out fighter and won't out jab a decent fighter due to his height, but he has a strong will, and is determined. Once Langford starts landing his best stuff, the tide turns. Some of the blows Langford lands here would have knocked out most past and previous champions.

Yes, fighters with good footwork are seldom stiff legged, they bend their knees a bit. Just like good writers put spaces between their words.
