The trouble is some of what Sugar says is true. Bert is not a real historian in terms of research. His forte is telling stories, some of which are true, others are not. If he actually researched his own stuff, he would be more credible.

There are a finite amount of old time boxing writers left. Each one of them has something to say. I meet Sugar once. He is exactly as he appears on screen. A true character who likes to hear himself talk...but I must admit I am still willing to listen.

 

i've met him too. nice guy but a little full of himself. he was very nice to all the fight fans who wanted pics with him during de la hoya-mayweather weekend in vegas so that was cool.
