The two men that most people seem to have thought were the two greatest never to be given the chance to fight for the title. Who wins the battle of the denied?
Wow. I'm favouring Jackson. He's "neater", at a guess and has crazy durability. I think he would make Langford pay plenty. A primed Langford might get the job done over a longer distance...but if i'm parting with a coin it would be on Jackson on anything but a fight to the finish.
Both were great fighters. If they meet in their primes, who wins? I do think Langford's attack dog style which forced the other guy to move or fight back would thwart Jackson's famous 1-2, with according to the press was so fast they two blows seemed to land at the same time. Jackson had his hands full with a pretty good Goddard, who was a move forward slugger type. Langford was a mover forward type, but he was too skilled to be considered a slugger. I'll go with Langford via mid to late round TKO, which in those days is somewhere between rounds 10-20. I never read much about Jackson's clinching skills. I think he would need some in this match.
Got no idea who'd win .... Jackson could outbox Sam, but not sure if he could take it. Superb match-up.
