Not only did this crazy guy state that he was undefeated and undisputed champ (both of which are impossible seeing that Wladimir Klitschko beat him and holds two belts) but that he is the first Nigerian HW Champ. What about Herbie Hide? I'm not saying Hide was a great Champ, but Sam Peter hasn't proven that he is a great champ yet either and the LEAST he could do is pay some attention to the sport that he is involved in.

Worst Thread Ever, maybe... but I just watched that fight again and I thought I'd mention it.

Hide and Akinwande both are Nigerian and both WBO champs, the confusion comes in becaus ethey used to be billed as British.

Sam was correct when he said "Undisputed", the fight was for the Undisputed WBC title between the regular and interim champs.

Well African American champs are also decended from West Cost Africans (ie Nigerians).

Technically Peter is right because Herbie Hide was born in England and fought out of England and Akiwande represented England too

I agree, where do we draw the line on the heritage business? I guess each individual has a right to choose, but if you haven't even lived in the country then it's a little odd. I'm not Scandinavian but somewhere down the line I'd guess that I must have some heritage there - but I'm not gonna start saying that I am!

Hide was born in Nigeria came to ENgland when he was 2 years old. Makes him Nigerian by birth.

Much more exciting fighter to watch that Sam the plodder (even though he had a didgy chin). Even in the Bowe fight he hit Bowe with some superb punches.

Akinwande is billed as Nigerian today, Hide has said in interviews that he is the first Nigerian champ not Peter.

Mind you, Hide also said that he is the youngest heavyweight champ lol.

Peter said he was "undefeated," but meant to say "undisputed" which he said afterwards. And I don't think he believes he's the undisputed HW champ, but rather the undisputed WBC champion now that he's unified the actual and interim titles.

I feel Peter was just overexcited, and said the first thing that came out of his mouth, it seems to me he's just trying to put somemuch needed excitement in the division, it's been too long since we have had an outspoken Heavyweight champion.

Me too. He just won a title that he's worked for over 7 years to get. You can't blame him for being excited. Anybody who wins a major title belt has something to be very proud of.

Exactly, like Tyson never said anything crazy before after winning a match. I just dont get why so many posters are picking this guy apart, everyone was complaining that he never knocked out a top guy, then he does, now everyone's still talking **** on him. Dont get me wrong, he isnt nearly as skilled as Wlad, but he's a good bit more exciting to watch, and has a **** load more mental strength, that has to count for something.

sam was correct, the wbo isn't part of the world title, even the klitschko's thought so since they gave it up to pursue one of the 3 'real' titles.

and no, it doesn't evolve into one either, since when would we cut off the lineage? francesco damiani will never be considered a world champion, or michael bennt, or the list goes on, not including the other weight divisions.
