Sam Peter Article on Front Page

I think Byrd beats Peter if they fought right now...............

 

Yeah because Jeremy Williams is such a world beater, of that's right, he's a never was who's been KO'd before. :rofl

 

You know, I alos think Peter is wildly overrated, and yet, he would beat almost all of those guys.

 

Mabie someone the author actually looked at both Peter's and Rahman's careers and figgured since Peter has koed no one in the top 20 and Rahman has gone the distance with Tua he will win the fight. All this speculation is for nothing since Peter has actually only fought one heavyweight contender. No I do not consider Toney a heavyweight contender. He was nothing but a hype job. Against the contender he did fight he lost almost every rd and should have been dqed for his fouls.

Mabie if Peter had not taken the easy rd to a shot we would know more about his abilities. But he has only beat "C" grade heavyweights and looked pretty bad against Klithcko. So to say he would loose to this guy and that guy is hard to argue against. Fact is Peter has not beaten anyone and needed two fights to beat a very old and very out of shape middleweight. He is hardly burnning up the division.

 

Chagaev or perhaps Ibragimov--because in both of their cases, they're unknown quantities whereas Peter has proved beatable.

EVERYONE knows that Sam Peter fought Wladamir Klitschko WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too early in his career and he was in NO WAY ready for a fight on that level. He was too green and didn't have enough experience. He lost a 3 point decision and floored Wlad 3 times with glancing blows. I wouldn't classify his showing as anything but "raw" but it certainly wasn't awful. Did he hit on the side/back of Wlad's head?... yep. Did Wlad hold excessively?... yep. Move on from that, please.

So a couple years later, and a bunch of W's against modest opponents and most impartial boxing fans would agree, he has progressed and improved. But now, he is classified as "garbage"?

Samuel Peter would beat every HW out there and could, quite possibly, also beat Wladamir Klitschko. Period.

Compared to K Belford or Prescott pieces that wasn't too bad. Author isn't high on Peter. So what? From all the posts I've read on ESB, most fans have strong biases.

I've never been high or low on Peter. He's what he is - strong punch & chin, not the best boxer out there. He often makes for exciting fights. His performances vs Toney were disappointing. The Sam haters or James fanboys say he lost the first fight. I thought Peter would stop JT in their 2nd fight - he didn't. He does tend to rabbit punch too much.

I'd favor Sam over Rahman. HR has never been the most consistent guy, but if he still has something left it could be a tough fight. I favor Sam over Oleg based mostly on age. If Peter losses or struggles to win, it will create more questions than answers. It will increase the doubts about him as a champ.

He looked like Pretty Boy Floyd and boxed circles around one of the slicker boxers in recent memory.

 

You're basing Scam Cheaters skills on beating up a fat shot middleweight? Wow, you're definitely the einstein between us both.

 

I agree, he clearly won that fight. I thought he had a good chance to stop JT. Peter was fighting a guy that if he was in good shape should be a CW. JT has been in many wars, has taken "supplements", and was in his late 30s. Byrd is slick too - and Wlad dismantled him. Peter critics will say, w/some justification, that Sams win over JT was no big accomplishment. Anyway, have said it before, I've been very even on SP's potential. Maybe he gets better. Nobody knows.

 

Better competition than what Wlad has faced, outside of hime beating a very green Peter. :yep
