A few posts going around at the moment regards Peter .So question is , was he capable of winning a alphabet soup belt in the 1980 s ?
How's the great Peter in against the likes of
    Tate
    Weaver
    Berbick
    Bone crusher
    Tubbs

no way, he'd need to be conditioned for 15 rounders to break into the top ten.

outside that he can thrive. a king of six rounders, good opp for butterbean.

Yep there s no way I see him going 15 rounds in a million years. By the tenth he'd be gassed , those guys in the 80S , despite not being the greatest could go 15 if called on .

He certainly could have. But I don't think he would have hung onto it for very long.

The only guys I see him beating in all honesty , or at least having a chance against , are weaver and Tate .Weaver could be caught early and hurt .Tate wasn't at the top very long , he may have had a shot .But men like spoon , Tucker , Tubbs etc beat him .If they could take you in to the later rounds Peter struggles .

I can’t see him breaking through into contention. On the fringes, maybe; not an automatic selection as a world title challenger. By which time, I’d expect his novelty to have worn off some.

I agree that Peter has problems late rounds. Which is why I reckon sooner rather than later he'd be taken deep and beaten, even if he did win a belt. I think with a couple of tries he probably would end up with a strap. I see no reason why he couldn't beat Tubbs, for example, who got KO'd by nonentity Butler and a guy like Ellis. Even Witherspoon, who was pretty good, lost to scrubs way below Peter's level like Everett Martin and Jimmy Thunder.

    Let's flip it around.

Who's the worst guys Peter lost to?

I'd say Eddie Chambers (33-1 at the time) and Robert Helenius (14-0 at the time) and these losses were to the end of his career. People forget how he was bowling boxers over before he lost to Wladimir. Chambers and Helenius are both solid heavyweights.

Maskaev, McCline, Toney and maybe Williams, I'd say.

    Maskaev was 39 years old
Toney was 38 and 39 years old.
McCline hadn't beaten anyone of any note for 6 years and that was an ankle injury win over Grant.
    Oh Dear!

not only is his proof of his negative a near 50 year sonny, but his positive proofs are near 40somethings. double buble trouble. only BCS could double flop.
