so i guess if a guy brings a 2x4 into the ring its ok as long as the ref doesnt call it. :hey the main job of the ref is to protect the fighters. peter hit klit in the back of the head several times in a clinch when wlad was facing peter. peter just spun him and looped his shot to the back of klit's skull. Those punches are illegal. end of story. ref newman was awful in since he allowed too much clinching for klit and rabbit punching for peter.
I think this conversation has been rather circuitous because you refuse to recognize that Peter's rulereaking (I'm only calling it that for the sake of conversation), is a direct result of KLIT's rulebreaking (turning his head away in a fight). If KLIT wouldn't expose the back of his head while Peter is throwing, there would be no debate. KLIT is basically running a red light through a busy intersection, and your complaining about the truck that slammed his ass. If KLIT were the motorist I likened him to, he would do well to review the most basic of traffic laws...since he is a champion boxer, he would do well to review the most basic of referee's instructions..."protect yourself at alll times."
fine. ill concede he willingly turned his back on him on a few occassions if u concede peter spun him and cracked him on the back of the head as well. but turning your back on a fighter is a far less damaging foul than rabbit punching.
I don't see a need to argue what's more damaging, that's obvious...turning your back on a fighter is the most damaging thing you can do in a fight...to yourself.
He didn't spin Waldo on that first knockdown. I suggest you watch it again. Right before that point Sam lands a flush left hook that sends Waldo spiraling to the canvas. He tries to grab Sam on the way down and Sam shrugs him off. And just as he throws a right hand Waldo spins his back to Sam and goes down. The punch hit him as he was already on his way to the canvas. Sam did not spin him nor did he punch him in the back intentionally.
no. peter lands a solid left as wlad backs up at :35 of round 5. then peter and wlad are in a semi-clinch seconds later and peter loops a right hand connecting on the back of the head. And he was not going down before the punch landed. wlad's legs buckle right after the rabbit punch lands.
If that's the case (which I'm not conceeding)...why was WLAD holding (not just in this instance, but all night)...??? Boxing fans are tired of a champion who won't fight...even PBF is considered more exciting than WLAD, and that includes KLIT's shaky chin factor.
Nope. He was on his way down. He tried to grab on to stay up and Sam pushed him off. And he was on his way down. Watch the replay. Even if Sam didn't hit him he would have fallen.
Peter hurt Wlad in the 5th round with a left hook I believe, which stunned Wlad, forcing him to latch on to Peter to stay up, Peter pushed Wlad off of him and pounded him to the ground, with a right hand that did hit Wlad on the back of the head, Wlad did put his head down, but Peter did give him a rabbit punch, it was tough call to make for the ref, because Wlad was hurt from the previous punch, and was at least disoriented, not sure what I would of down if I was the ref that night.
look im clearly not neutral but i can understand why some people hate on his style. he fights very methodically and thoughtfully. people want to see fireworks. he's protecting his chin, no doubt about it. calling him afraid is pushing it imo. his last 4 fights ended in one-sided stoppages so one lackluster domination of a top 5 hw isnt enough to condemn the man. if his next fight against thompson or povetkin turns out like his last, i will begin to worry though. i hope he fights the Russian who will force him to throw more though. despite his style i think a lot of people still want to watch him because they know he can end a fight at any moment with 1 punch. those type of boxers don't come around that often. and yes he held/clinched too much against peter but has done very little in his last 5 fights so i think u should concede that much. remember, he was not that far removed from those 2 brutal losses to sanders and lamon. I just watched it so we'll just have to disagree.
I'm happy to admit he held less, unfortunately he pinned down IGGY's foot for a good portion of the fight...even if he's not wrestling he finds a way to hold, he just did it with his foot in his last outing.
Sugie my brother, there is a fine line between clinching & holding. Clinching is legal, holding is not. Besides, Klitschko has rarely clinched in his latest fights, in fact it's usually his opponents that are trying to clinch.
