I think Tua had better power. A bigger windup and devastating if it landed because of his timing. He sensed like Tyson did at times, when he could lunge and put his all into a punch.. Peter generated more from his legs in a stationary position, Tua would leap more than Peter and put everything into it. I don't think Toney great chin or not would have taken Tua's left hook, yet I don't think Tua lands as much as Peter. So which one do you prefer.
He had serious power but his best shot was always the rabbit punch. He executed the mythical double-fisted clinched desert hare punch versus Toney, something that was thought to be all but impossible to pull off in a professional ring prior to Peter's ascension.
I agree. Peter wasn't good enough to land on good fighters. Even the Wlad fight he didn't really land clean on the KDs.
Hence the title "overrated puncher?". There is little doubt he was a powerful man, but that doesn't make a great puncher.
Obviously strong guy with alot of punching power. But I think his power was diminished by his lack of skill. While had the strength and physical power to deliver the goods, he lacked the skill, speed and boxing fluidity to deliver those goods to their full potential. That's my take on it, anyway. I'd still love to see Peter take on Tua or Arreola, though.
Peter had power, but he was too slow and sloppy to land clean shots on his opponents. There was a lot of hysteria about him being a killer after he KO'd Williams. Wlad was ****ing terrified of him in their first fight before he gassed.
Yeah he did drop Wlad 3 times and would have KOED Wlad if the bell didn't ring. But that being said knocking down Wlad does not mean you have power. Wlad can't take even a light punch. Brewster hurt him with a left jab for christ sakes. Peter had ok power but Klit fans overated him to make Wlad look better. Peter was just a average fighter at best.
