I told you all Peter would handle this dude in under 3. Peter promised to come back and be the nigerian nightmare again and he did just that. Who next?

Peter looked good for a change. why? because hes been active and not sitting on his ass like all the other heavies. abel sanchez as his trainer seems to be a big key too

Peter looks good, good win for him.

Sad he did not train professional as a world champion.

Don't get too excited, he still won't beat Wlad.

Hell, I picked him to KO Aguilera in 2 rounds, too - but that's more because Aguilera is absolute filth and even a slugger of Sam's skill level with an adequate chin and a punch was going to expose the guy.

Everybody knows I don't think highly of Arreola (a "skinny" Peter would probably beat him too), and even he would have blasted Nagy in six minutes flat.

More positive progress for Sam. At this point, the most he can do for his career is to stay active, keep winning, and keep his weight down. Keep it up, even against bad competition, and another good fight will come.

He's doing all 3 of those things, so that alone gains him some respect in my eyes. It'd have been easy to fade into Bolivian after the Vitali and Eddie Chambers fights, but at least he's trying to rebuild things.

What that'll translate to against world class opponents, I'm not going to speculate one way or the other. The important thing is that at least he's showing he's learned something from his past losses as far as respecting his own career goes, and even if he fails in his next step up against world class opposition, I doubt he'll shoot himself in the foot like he's done in preparations against Vitali and Eddie.

I agree on the last part. Those who thought Aguilera would beat a caliber of fighter as Peter, was crazy.

While Peter is not as skilled as Wlad, his power and aggressive fighting style, still can cause Wlad to panic like he did in their first meeting. Wlad's chin is still weak, and Peter was the last fighter to take the fight to Wlad. I would personally love to see Peter/Wlad 2.

Forget you panic **** but you are right! I would like to see Peter vs. Wlad 2.

Wlads chin is okay, nothing else. And Wlad improves since there first fight with Emanuel Steward.

Your boy did not show any good performance as a Champ. It was a shame how he looks in Berlin against Vitali.

Oh, it'll certainly be a good HW title match (the best in a while, probably) - but if Wlad was able to pull it out that early in his working relationship with Steward, I really don't like Sam's chances after years of fine-tuning. Especially not when Sam's been so inconsistent himself in terms of showing improvement (looked pretty good in the Toney rematch, and then regressed).

I think Sam himself delivered the final death blow to Maskaev's chin. Nagy got way too much credit for that first round knockout - it could have been any live body at that point - hell, Zuri Lawrence would have scored a first round KO over that proud old Kazakh husk. :yep

Hopefully we don't hear about the guy anymore. I wish him the best on the club circuit.

I wont state why I feel Wlad's chin is horrible, I explained to you and others several times on here. Just watch from 03-06 and tell me what you think of his chin.

Peter had a terrible corner and work ethic at the time, no excuses. He is now with a different team and a different mindset. Thats hope that translates into another title for Samuel.

Wlads chin is okay, i told it different times. It is a story behind his losses but you don´t want to see it.

I watched Wladimir from 1995 (Amateurs) until today.

    His chin is okay.

I hope the new team works for Peter like Wlads team works for him. :thumbsup

Good post. I guess the way I see it is that Wlad has had an easy path since Peter. Not really his fault. Just guys that had no chance in hell of beating him or just too old to take a prime Wlad's best.

Peter still has time, I believe he's only 29. Which is still young for a heavyweight division that still has guys in their deep 30's making waves. Peter just needs to continue what he's doing and should find himself in another firefight with Wlad. Hopefully this time he finishes him, when he sees Wlad hurt.
