Who wins? I think Danny Williams, for all his faults, actually would make this a helluva fight. Maybe win it...he throws tighter punches, at least...
If the stories are to be beleived then I agree, Williams would indeed be in with a shout here. But Williams never showed that type of form on fight night - by any stretch you have to pick Peter here.
On his best night danny williams beats peter on his best night, a 99% of the time williams didn't have a good night then you have to go with peter.
danny i think...he was a good heavy and had a nice popping jab from a sideways stance could box and bralw and could punch. decent jaw. on form a good pick maybe not the fav but i would choose danny williams ud
he got lucky against Tyson...Williams was on his way to being KTFO in like 3 or 4 rds, but Tyson VISIBLY blew his knee out...then Vitaly treated Williams like a hooker at the point...
My point exactly. The best version of Danny Williams IMO is the one that weathered the storm against Iron Mike. Tyson really drills him early, and a lesser fighter would have given-up, Williams hung on and came back to win. BTW-Peter has neither Tyson's chin, nor his power, that much should be obvious to everyone at this point.
Even when Peter was unbeaten and coming up I said Williams could beat him. I got lambasted for such an opinion. Williams was the hardest guy to gauge in the division, he would get some solid wins and then get upset. Then comeback to upset someone else, then lose again. In a way thats why I liked him, he kept coming back and I think he has one of the biggest hearts in the division. He is what can be good about boxing, the unknown, the upsets, the turnarounds. Who knows?? There is version of Danny that could have very well stopped Peter but another could come back the very next fight and get KTFO. Then come back and win again. You have to put your money on the more consistent Peter but Danny was one of those enigmatic fighters who could really throw a spanner in the works if he was up for it.
Danny Williams had some great talents. Watch his first fight with Skelton...he could really bang and show some good skills. He always had weight issues but he had a good punch, could show a good chin, and some decent technique. He also had as much heart as you can put in a fighter. I think he could pull the upset.
A lot of this is true, but Danny's problem were mental, not physical or technical. I'd bet every single great performance he ever gave was in the gym. Come fight night...
