Most of his wins and knockdowns are based on back of the head punches. In the James Toney fight, Toney was up against the ropes, and Peter measured the back of Toney's head up, and punched him square on the rear of his onion.
Even at 37, Vitali could hand him his ass ! Vitali's one of the best heavyweights fighting tall from the outside..Peter will not be effective with his jab and can only hope to land a looping shot !! Peter is a limited and overhyped paper champ that would feel like he's fighting a ghost in David Haye...and I'm no real fan of Haye !!
If you're talking about the fifth round of the first fight where Peter landed a huge punch that hurt Toney and forced him to hold on to the ropes then that punch came right at the temple. At some points Toney would kneels with his head down forcing some of Peter's punches to nail him on the back of the head, I don't really think most of them specifically against Toney were intentional. The first round of the rematch proved it, Peter rushed in and hurt Toney very early in the rematch and Toney instantly starting kneeling with his head down to force a warning from the referee as Peter was getting carried away trying to follow up with more punches.
:good Exactly, do you remember the ref giving Toney instructions in the dressing room before the fight, a member from Team Toney said something like "Ref, tell them about hitting behind the head", the ref said something like "Thats fine, but if you got your head below his waist and hits you there, thats on you". I right there and then it would be a fair fight, I think it was before the first fight if I'm not mistaken. I hate it when everyone brings up the rabbit punching, yet, Peter was only taken a point away once in the last 3 years against Toney, and before that the only other time he had trouble with fouls was against Yanqi Diaz, the guy couldnt take Peter's power and ended up being knocked out in the end.
Peter has a solid jab, and throws more combinations. He has some skills, but I agree power is he best stuff.
That was basically a tactic Toney applied but he's so experienced and smart in there that he made Peter look like he was cheating when it wasn't the case at all, it's sad that not every fan can see it that way. The same thing happened against Wladimir, every time Peter gets some sort of advantage Wladimir would either hold or turn his back, first few rounds Peter gave a pass on them but as the fight went he got frustrated and intentionally nailed him there for giving him his back and not protecting his self at all times to get the referee to back them off so he would gain the advantage yet again.
...and KLIT-ites don't admit it...well they admit WLAD does it, but they don't admit he's puss for doing it.
So true, the Wlad fight pissed me off the most, you could see the intensity in Peter's offensive game, he laid it all on the line that night, and Wlad clinched/boxed his way to victory. If you watch the fight closely, Peter would go to throw combo or even a big right hand, and right away Wlad would hold onto Peter for dear life. You can really see the frustration in Peter's eyes, not being able to get his punches his off with Wlad clinching onto him every few seconds, at one point I yelled at the T.V. "Fight you ****ing *****", it killed me to see Peter lose in that fashion, I honestly dont even think Wlad fans were happy with the outcome.
Except for Rico Spadafora...he said that night was a disaster for Peter, and that Wlad nearly shut him out... In contrast, we don't say Sam nearly shut out McCline...:deal
I was rooting for both guys that night then slowly switched to Peter simply because Wladimir's style was starting to **** me off a bit especially when he was openly cheating by turning his back at some points and getting away with it with not enough warnings. When you turn your back like that against a fighter every time he gets the advantage he will ignore it once or twice but not 10 times, that's when Peter basically said "**** it" and nailed him behind the head. It's also more frustrating for Peter than the keyboard warriors complaining because it's Peter who had to deal with the biggest right hand nearly 20 times to get the advantage of land one of his punches so of course it will **** him off.
He "jab & grabbed," and ran his way to victory. Peter took WLAD's **** all night and only one blow stunned him for half a second. WLAD fought like a puss, but he won.
Yeah he did win the fight, never said anything other than that. Also it was Wladimir who was ready to go in the 10th with only 30 seconds left for Peter, Peter was hurt for less than one second in the 12th and recovered from it, Wladimir had nearly 2 minutes to finish him off if he was ready to go and that didn't happen.
maybe so but that 'puss' gave Sammy the beating of his life he won't soon forget or at least until Vit finishes the job :yep Sam seems to be eating his way out of boxing
