Oleg never hurt peter... the shot you may be referring to when peter went back is when peter went to throw at the same time oleg was throwing and it merely knocked peter off balance, rewatch it and come back to me, and btw watch the end of the 5th when oleg hit peter with a clean flush right and watch peter not even act like he had been hit

    Very good point,mate!

Virchis will lose his upcomming eliminator against Gomez.

I for my part would certainly favour Virchis over Sam Peter. Virchis has murderous firepower, but desperately needs a stationary target.Sam isnt the most mobile fighter out there.Virchis couldnt miss him.One of Virchis' haymakers connects, and you are out of the game.Virchis would probably stop the slow and predictable African within 2-3 rounds.
However, this fight will never come off.Gomez is a slick mover who can counterbox really well.No way that Virchis wins a point decision against the capable Cuban.Of course Virchis always has a puncher's chance against any opponent, but if Gomez is focused and totally concentrated throughout his entire bout with Virchis he should be able to outpoint the giant Ukranian farmer quite easily.

    My picks:
Gomez by wide point decision over Virchis.
Virchis by early ko over Sam Peter

His opponent Serin wasnt that bad. Serin had a bloody close fight with Monse who almost knocked out Luan Krasniqui.
Serin also put up a good show of boxing against Danny Williams as well as against Onofrei.
He is now scheduled to face rising Russian heavy weight talent Vladimir Tereshkin on the undercard of Sturm vs Pittman.

    Mostly agreed.

I think Virchis vs Peter would be much more leveled than you say, there is a good probability Virchis would KO Peter, butI wouldn't expect it to happen inside the first 3 rds. IMO, there is also a good possibility Peter could outbox Virchis and get a decision. I'd call it a 50-50 fight.

Anyway, if Gomez shows up the same as he was against McCall, he should be able to outbox both Virchis and Peter to win the WBC title.

Now, on another matter, what's this crap on Vitali running for mayor of Kiev again and the WBC title being tied up to him? It's plain ridiculous, the WBC should imediatelly move on to the next fighter in line and put Vitali's emeritus champ status on hold.

This people are messing up with the sport of boxing, specially the HW division, too much.

Yup, pretty much it, but Peter is not faster enough to have it as a reliable advantage over Virchis.

Also, if he tries to aply the same gameplan, workrate, he did in his last fights, against Virchis, he is in for kissing the deck very quick. Peter will have to move a lot, box, hit and run. As someone already said, he is too much of a stationary target and that will be deadly against Virchis.

Plus, he had to wait forever to get the shot that he earned.

After he beat Toney in an eliminator he was inexplicably forced to beat him in another eliminator. Then he had to fight for the interim belt against McCline after Oleg suffered an injury.

It's not as if we've had a true linear champion since Lewis retired.

Peter yelling "WHO's Next" over and over again after every fight is very painful to listen to. His limited vocabulary and intelligence is appalling. The last thing boxing needs is this guy to be champion. Can you imagine him on talk shows?

At least he's exciting in the ring and behind a mic, and doesnt talk in a boring monotone type voice like all the other top 10 Heavyweights, no wonder why noone watches the Heavyweight division anymore, there boring in and out of the ring IMO.

Yeah, the division definitely needs more rapists, drug addicts and mental midgets..... but then, considering that instead of "they are", you write "there"... should I be so surprised?:lol::lol:

The division is severely lacking talent and personality, this is plain to see, and the popularity of the division is lacking because of it. The 90's were great because you had not only very talented Heavyweight fighters such as Holyfield, Bowe, and Lewis, but you had fighters like Tyson, Foreman, and Golota, who brought the average fan back to boxing, through not only there boxing prowess, but there enertaining personalities as well. The american people want to be entertained and shocked, there not getting that with this bad crop of Heavyweights.:yep

I don't feel bad for him in that respect, cause Toney clearly beat Peter in that first fight, so if it were handled correctly, and judged correctly, Toney would have that status, not Peter.

And for anyone who doubts that Peter was beaten by Toney in that first fight, the WBC big dogs apparently agreed that it was a rediculous robbery against Toney, cause they mandated a second eliminator fight, which is almost unheard of. The extremely rare nature of a second fight to determine the mandatory tells you that it was a clear robbery in the first fight. Toney boxed Peter's EARS OFF in that first fight with fast, accurate and effective counterpunching. I thought Toney was amazing in that fight, and my jaw hit the floor when the annouced that he did not win. After they announced the decision, I recall that Peter was running down the hall and giggling like a giddy school boy that just stole something, cause he really did receive something that was stolen, when he got that lame decision. Peter did beat Toney in the rematch, but it if were done fairly, there would have been no rematch, as Peter didn't deserve a do over, seeing as how he was thoroughly outboxed in the first fight.

Should have been Toney in that position, truth be told. :good

He sure did, yes, but he didn't deserve the chance to fight him agian, in my opinion.

I think that must have been a case of the infamous King Influence that swayed the judges in that first fight, cause that was a robbery, only without a gun.

I had the first fight a draw personally, but I could of seen it going either way, Peter landed the harder punches, while Toney landed more I believe, I think the punch stat numbers were pretty even, it was a close fight none the less, and the rematch proved who the better man truly was, and what an in shape, trim, Sam Peter is capable of.
