Seems like this thread has deviated from the original subject.

Peter IMO would be horrible for the division as unified champ. He embodies so much that is wrong with boxing: He gets totally out of shape between fights and comes to fights overweight, which alone is a disgrace for a well - paid professional athlete. He is overhyped by his handlers, trash talks as if he has dominated boxing for ten years and has yet to beat an elite, in - shape fighter in truly convincing fashion. He has good raw strength and physical toughness and a strong will to win, that's about it. His skills are mediocre, his power is unproven against elite fighters.

You can make a legit argument that the current version of Wlad would have been a legit threat in any era. Peter? Maybe he would stand a chance against undersized champions from the past like Patterson, but he is one of those guys who have a career because of the alphabet titles today.

How on earth can you compare Peter to Larry Holmes?? Holmes was a very skilled fighter with an amazing winning streak. If he had not followed the reign of Ali, he would have gotten a lot more recognition. Peter doesn't have half of Larry's dedication to staying in shape and maybe one third of his talent.

Fat lazy 250 and if he wins expect his ass to start climbing in at 260 270. No we dont need him to be undisputed anything, unless its a pie eating contest.

..............and that's roughly how I responded to Punisher myself.:deal

Not to mention Maskaev has been inactive & recovering from a back injury, a total of 15 months I believe.

    Still, it's a 50/50 fight due to Peter's own shortcomings. :D

That one only holds water if the guy you are fighting doesn't turn/run away from you. If that's the case, it is legal. Period.

Sam peter has the punch for a likeable heavyweight champ, but talent wise he is lacking, he is just as beatable as half a dozen heavyweight title holders we have seen since Lennox retired.

those were the only 3 rounds he won in the fight. How do you knock someone down three times (that is a 6 point swing on the scorecards) and still lose a fight? That is pathetic.

Peter simply is not complete. Yes he has great power, and yes he has a chin. But that is not enough. He lacks speed, coordination, stamina, skill, and discipline. I say discipline because there is no reason for Peter to be over 235.

Peter barely got passed Mc'Cline and this is the man you people are claiming would be better for the divisin then Wlad? Matter of fact he was domi aged by Wladimir himself utterly dominated...

Dumbass has reached a new level.

I didn't know that knocking someone down by hitting them behind the head is a knockdown... :huh
