How do those shots compare with the shot that Brewster knocked Golota out in 51 seconds with? Harder or softer?
No Rums. But he is a big man and any big man can connect a hard punch once in awhile. McCline isn't known as a big puncher because he is way too tentative. If he was aggressive in nature and attacked his opponents constantly then yes, he'd be a big puncher. Infact you'll find some of the most devastating KOs came from guys who weren't known as big punchers. Does Brock-Lawrence ring a bell? Try and use your analysis on McCline's handspeed, his foot placement, and the leverage and distance he got on those punches. Both the uppercut and right hand. They were devastating.
The one time I saw Golota take a right hand like that was from Mike Tyson. And he got up and quit right afterwards. He was done. Peter got up from his damage and continued. Major difference there.
I think you wrong about Brewsters left hook that caught Golota. It was one of the most devistating punches ever thrown. You can't even see it coming, but look at that follow through... This content is protected :yikes
That once in a while only happens when he happens to knock down the fighter you follow. Imagine if the same punch floored Wlad. What would you say about his chin?
Now look at the right hand Sam took. McCline had all his weight behind it, AND it hit him from the side of his head where he didn't see it coming. [yt]NmgwRN-OCIE[/yt]
Nonsense. McCline has floored plenty of heavyweights. He dropped Grant on one punch. Did Lewis do that? How do you rate Lewis as a puncher? McCline will not be known as a puncher because he was way too tentative in the ring. But that doesn't mean he can't punch. He obviously has shown a track record in recent years of being able to do that. Byrd, Brock, Grant, Briggs, and now Peter.
See the .gif file I posted above. McCline could NEVER throw a punch with that much power & technique.
Not even close! Brewster was always known as a hard puncher, whereas McCline was always known as a timid *****. Regardless, the facts remain: * Golota is a much better technical boxer than McCline * Golota carries more power than McCline (although, both are poor finishers) Also, Peter probably isn't effective enough in his aggression to take Golota out early as Brewster did. Peter is about as 'fast' as a turtle. In other words, he's slow as ****. :smoke
He did get a chance to get his feet set and put his weight into that right hand that dropped Peter... I think that was for Peter...it gives him the chance to learn and correct mistakes and it takes away the intimidation factor he was building on. Now everyone is going to want to take the fight to him...and I think that will enable him to get his ko's Or maybe he will burn out fast...because the guy takes a lot of punishment...I can't see him having a long career getting hit like that every fight...
Maybe if Sam stayed down. I do believe that most heavyweights know how hard those punches were. The fact Sam got up and went on to win I'm sure discouraged whatever hopes they had of doing the same thing. Maybe the Klitschkos, but it's risky. Waldo hasn't thrown an uppercut in years from what I can tell.
Every heavywieght hits hard enough to knock anyone out, when you hit someone on the chin it dont matter how hard you punch, if you hit them right on the button there in trouble. I think alot of people are putting Peter down way to much, the fact that he wants to back in the ring in 2 months just goes to show you he aint gun shy, unlike Liakhovich.
****ing double standards! I remember guys here screaming about glass chinned Brock couse he went down from feather fisted McCline! Zakman was one of those idiots now claiming that McCline has a rocket in his punch
Questions have certainly been raised as a result of the McCline fight, but it is premature to issue a determination that Peter's chin is "shaky." While it should cause concern that a relatively light-hitting HW like McCline was able to floor him three times, on the other hand, Peter got up each time and was able to continue and win the fight. ESB Chincheckers will need to monitor Peter's performance in upcoming fights carefully to notice signs of punch resistance issues. A rematch with a hard-hitting HW like Wlad Klitschko, or someone like Vladimir Virchis, could provide more evidence on how well Peter takes a punch.
