Waldo took shots from the "insanely hard hitting" Peter and stood up after being decked three times. Peter did the same thing with mediocre McCline. Waldo's chin > Peters chin?
It was a jab that put Grant down. The several second sequence was strange but by no means did i thing "holy **** McCline can crack".It was more....uhh wtf was that! BTW i'm never once stated that Mccline has no power i was just commenting on how you are using the Grant fight as a measuring stick.
M. Grant shouldn't be brought into the equation here. He has a genuine glass jaw & Golota was the 1st to put a crack in it. :yep
calm down, Wlads been down 11 times and been TKOd 3 times, compared to Peter who has only been down 3 times. Theres difference between suspect and weak.:yep
It was a jab yes but it was a very stiff punch that Grant walked into. He wasn't off balance if that's what you are saying. I remember seeing it, but it has been some time. In any event a man does not fall down and break his ankle without having lost some control in the first place. Lewis took 2 rounds of clubbing Grant to get him out of there. So I'd say it's pretty safe to assume McCline can crack when he wants to.
Well, clearly we know the outcome of two of those fights, so let's first match Golota with Peter, OK? Golota was hurt by MCBUM in the first, and he's WAY past his prime, so, unless he gets a good shot in on Peter early, I don't see him winning this fight. And let's not forget that Golota isn't exactly George Chuvalo either. Most likely it ends in a mid-rounds stoppage for Peter. As far as the rest of the potential matchups - ANY of those guys stops McBum, with McCline probably taking the longest to get rid of him. If McCline and Golota were to face each other, I'd favor Golota narrowly. He was a MUCH better fighter in his prime, and I think he has enough left to win a decision over McCline.
McCline's achillies heel is his stamina and how passive he tends to be because of it. But he'd have Nutsy out of there before that would become an issue. Golota was always an open target. Typical Euro with no head movement or upper body movement. He just absorbed punches.
Fluent how? You throw a punch at his head and it hits. Bowe couldn't miss him, nor could Lewis, or Grant, or Samson, or Tyson or Brewster or anyone else for that matter. Hell even McBride hit him flush in the first round. McBride! Fact is with Golota if you could bang a bit he was not that difficult. You just had to attack him very early before he got settled.
So much to touch on..... For one what set Golota apart from MOST Euro fighters before him was infact how fluent he was.Merchant or Lampley touch up on this during one of the Bowe fights. If his style is so basic and Euro then what does that say about Bowe's great "American Style". Golota is a big man like Bowe,Wlad,Vitali,McCline...etc so you arent going to see them dancing like Ali or bobbing and weaving as nicely as Tyson. Post 99-2000 yes he became alot more stiff and upright because of age and and of course his car accident which he was never the same after. Not until Wlad did we see another Euro Heavy who didnt fight like the rest. Golota was very fluent! Does this look anything like your basic "Euro Style"?....... [YT]dv1wj01sE1c[/YT]
Typical Golota fan. Link a video of Golota smashing around a bunch of bums and several high class fights with only clips of Golota on offense but never on defense. Samson hit Golota so hard Golota got frustrated and bit his neck. Bowe hit Golota so hard that his cheek split open and you could see his teeth through his face! And we need not even mention what happened when Lewis, Brewster and Tyson got him. The man was as stiff as a board. And don't worry, I was also a fan of his! I can be realistic however, you should try it out.
I think there's waaaaaay more variables that go into a knockdown/knockout that go undiscussed that now are rearing their head with your analysis. My concerns with your analyis raises questions: Did you overstate Peter's whiskers? Is McCline still a light hitter? Do you now reevaluate Klitschko's power up or down? He put away McCline while Peter couldn't even put him down and yet Klitschko couldn't put Peter away. How important does the fact that Peter went down for all intents and purposes from a single lone punch where no accumulated punches factor in or where fatigue plays absolutely zero role? Does McCline's deplorable stamina factor into this? A sturdier fighter, a bigger hitter, or a better finisher could have very well put him out totally. I think my point is that all encompassing conclusions about fighter's chins is filled with pitfalls.
The bottom line with Peter's chin... There are questions that have yet to be answered He can be knocked out - he's no Tua, McCall, Chuvalo, or a prime Mercer It dropped a grade - from A to B
