Yes, it does. I've seen fighters do it ALL THE TIME. You're allowed to fight a couple pounds over the limit for it to be recognized as a fight at the weight you campaign at, UNLESS it's a title or eliminator.

Go look at contenders on BoxRec and see where they weighed in at at 160, for example. Bet you they had fights around 161-163.

Plenty are predicting a Taylor win in the poll.

2005-02-23 : Sam Soliman 159½ lbs beat Miguel Julio 163¼ lbs by TKO at 2:20 in round 4 of 10

An example of what I am talking about. Non-title fight for Soliman at 160 years ago. His opponent came it at 163.25.

You can come in a couple pounds over 160 and it still counts as a 160 pound fight.

2009-11-27 : Martin Murray 164½ lbs beat Sergey Khomitsky 163¼ lbs by PTS in round 8 of 8

2013-12-07 : Matt Korobov 162¼ lbs beat Derek Edwards 161¾ lbs by TKO at 0:28 in round 9 of 10

2013-09-28 : Matt Korobov 161¾ lbs beat Grady Brewer 160 lbs by UD in round 8 of 8

Gee, another 160 pound fighter coming in a couple pounds over the limit.

    Y'all DKSAB.

I think Soliman will KO/TKO Taylor. JT has absolutely no punch resistance. At some point, Soliman is going to land something and JT won't be able to recover. Also, his pending criminal case will have him unfocused.

    Thoughts?

Lets lookn at who has stopped Taylor
    Froch
    Abraham
    Pavlik

    All destructive punchers.

Soliman has NEVER stoped an elite fighter, and has 18 stoppages in 56 fights....

Soliman isnt stopping anyone, not even shot Taylor

It's not murder but for shooting his cousin. But the law has allowed him to fight and deal with this later. So it's next Wednesday on ESPN.

A few fights ago, he was badly hurt against some bum and had to survive. JT's chin is pure china right now. Any legit pro can hurt him if they land clean.

    :yep
Chris Eubank Jr has not fought at 160 to date but is considered a middleweight.

Bernard Hopkins fought for the vacant USBA belt but he had never fought at 160 or under. He had only two fights at 160 before getting a title shot.

That "bum" was Caleb Truax who is now a borderline top 10 fighter and who has a much better KO ratio than Soliman.

Soliman is essentially the Paulie Malignaggi of the MW division
